First time I've actually seen a dollar figure for the Blatnik Bridge replacement: $1.8 Billion.

Re: Excelsior, Wayzata and Lake Minnetonka area
What would the market be for those hotels? Maybe there could be one or two, but if you're from the area spending a day at the lake, you just drive home at the end of the day. I'm not sure Lake Minnetonka is a big destination for people out of state. If you're just here on business or visiting relati...

I think the intent is people living in Eau Claire will get on a plane and transfer in MSP en route to sunny destinations, not people living in Eau Claire will come in to watch the game when the Packers are playing.

This one has been an open secret for a while, and there was a major police response last winter when a couple of criminals were caught stealing copper pipes and wiring. They caught two right away, but couldn't find the third and spent hours searching the entire building and finally found him hiding ...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
There's still as stoplight on 13, but you're removing all the through traffic on Nicollet as well as two of the four left turning movements from the intersection, so you can dramatically increase the green time allocation in a cycle for traffic on 13. The two other designs: A) Keep the entire inters...

I think they'll find the parking ramp to be a community treasure because it'll make it easy to park their cars and then ride the train to sports events or their jobs downtown, rather than have to walk or ride a bus.

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
There's a couple of different options, but this is the one the city of Burnsville likes. It's hard to see, but there's a "pedestrian cloverleaf" in the northwest corner where to go from one transit station to another you go around the loop and then either over 13 along Nicollet or under Ni...

https://i.imgur.com/TmAgujX.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0gknjRX.jpg So yeah, a Taco Bell opening made national news. I was there at 2:00 on a Tuesday, and it was still busy with people outside directing traffic. I have a feeling there's a lot of people just coming down to check it out once, but for now...

It's been 12 years since Target Field was built so the Twins are about due to start threatening to leave town unless we build them a brand new ballpark. Maybe we should leave room for a future sports stadium?

https://i.imgur.com/KiScC7x.jpg Apparently this opening of a Taco Bell is making national news... Reading some of the articles, Taco Bell had a fairly low (by fast-food industry standards) number of customers using the drive-thru pre-pandemic at 65%, but that climbed to 90% and isn't going down eve...

The unusual "We got a deal on five different random pallets of remainders from Home Depot" look, but at least without a bunch of fake arches, pillars, and cornices.

Maybe you shouldn't be living in an apartment if you need a self-storage facility to hold your stuff? Although I do wonder how much of it is people that see those "tiny house" shows on TV or have a fascination with living in a downtown loft but won't give up their detached house volume of ...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Corridor - General Topics
I'm assuming there's demand for storage or they wouldn't be building them. Bloomington wound up as dumping ground for a bunch of them because other cities had restrictions and we didn't. So now we do but we still have more than our fair share of already built ones, in one class replacing a plastics ...

The FHWA only granted interim approval for red paint on bus lanes in December 2019. Probably marq2 hasn't needed repainting since then.

With it being said that I'm a supporter of this project and only knowing one person that actually lives on the North Side, I'm wondering if this is starting to give off the same kinds of vibe / overtones of the North Side Greenway?

Is this Washington Ave? The cyclectracks I'm referring to are the ones downtown that have no boulevard space like these do. I'd be fine riding on the ones in the picture.

Do you consider yourself a "casual bicyclist"? If you do, then we obviously have a difference of opinion and different comfort levels with various infrastructure within the category of "casual bicyclist". If you're don't, who do you think is a better judge of what infrastructure ...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
YMMV, but as a "casual" bicyclist there's no way I'd consider the Washington Ave cycletracks a "casual" bikeway. You're still just what seems like inches away from cars and even that curb completely disappears near intersections leaving nothing but paint. Richfield feels so much ...
