Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
This Wall Street Journal article features Downtown Minneapolis and highlights the high office vacancy rate and conversion of some buildings to housing: https://www.wsj.com/real-estate/commercial/wrecking-ball-targets-empty-downtown-offices-d0e3391 IMO the lack of significant retail options in the C...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics
Perhaps a complimentary Art Deco residential tower could be erected within the building. The rest could be turned into a Chelsea Market style experience.

They also have an extremely limited stock. My partner moved in recently and walked there for a few items. Came back with a gallon of distilled water and said we need to go the real Target. Chicago has a ton of real urban Targets, but God forbid they build them in their home city. The Target in Edge...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
Looks like the windows on the reopened Zelo space are frosted (or whatever) for the bottom two-thirds or so. Can’t see in or out when walking on the street. I wish there was a city ordinance that prohibited this. Gross. I also wish we had an ordinance against this kind of thing. I guess it keeps th...

Re: RBC Gateway & Four Seasons - 37 stories - 519'
I dunno. I've traveled to Denver, Portland and Boston n recent years, and this building is better than what I've seen in those cities. Minneapolis has a far better skyline IMO. We're just not going to get premier architecture like in NYC, Chicago and Toronto as a second or third-tier metro. IMO it ...

The payment machines were gone on Friday and a sign said that April 22nd would be the last day parking would be avaialble in the lot. Owners gave thanks for all the years of business and that the parking lot would soon be torn up.

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'
This building is very prominent when driving in to downtown on Highway 55. I'm liking it more and more every time I see it. What I like best is how the three pieces are brought together so smoothly, compared to the total mess called Centre Village. Could it be taller? Yes, of course, but I think we ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Fixtures for sale in Banana Republic. I asked and they are closing This isn't that surprising to me given that their clothes are a staple of the business casual style wardrobe. Up until March I had been working downtown since late 1997 and most of my clothes I wore to work came from that store. I c...

This is really starting to make an impact on the skyline when driving in from the West on hwy 55. Can't wait for completion. Turning out much better than I thought it would.

And if it was anyone other than David I wouldn't be so snarky, but for literally years he's been saying "Talk to northsiders they want this" and basically ignoring all other arguments in favor of that one crutch. My home is on the Northside of Mpls and I certainly do not care about SWLRT ...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Dream idea (which might hurt the price rather than help, but I'm not sure: The line currently turns in a U shape around the trash burning facility. We use the current line there, but add a bridge up to 10th St which is already a lower use road. It then turns down Lasalle, another low traffic road, ...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis
St. Paul can have it. It would be nice to see more on that side of the river anyway. Maybe somewhere near the Green line if space is available. The strib editorial I read mentioned north Minneapolis and how this part of downtown being redeveloped could help revitalize that part of the city. http://w...

Not a huge contributor to this site, but I do check it out almost on a daily basis. I love light rail and infrastructure projects that benefit our area and make the Twin Cities more livable and easy to navigate. This project has never been a favorite of mine and it's possible cancellation makes me h...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis
I guess I'm curious as to why this needs to be in Minneapolis. We already have the Vikings, Twins, and the Timberwolves. Why do we need this as well ? My vote last time around did not go to Mayor Hodges, but I support her on this stadium issue. As far as this area goes, who cares if its kind of indu...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
It would make more sense to me to have the hotel on the park side of the building which would give hotel guest's a better view. If this is behind the east tower, which I think it is, they would be looking at the homeless shelter across the street. Not trying to knock the shelter, because it serves a...
