Re: University of Minnesota - General Topics & Development Map

It gets used quite a bit. Pretty much anytime I go there are orders getting served in the drive thru, and everytime I walk down Washington there's a car getting food or pulling out.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Not only does it dead end at 32nd, crossing Hiawatha at 32nd to actually get back to the Hiawatha Trail isn't part of this project. So it's really not closing the gap.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Has anyone ever been approached by someone fundraising and collecting signatures for a permit for "Bucket Boys" while riding transit? It's happened to me a number of times while riding the train or waiting for it. I can find little to no information about any "bucket boys" in Min...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

As a cynic I think a lot of the arguments end up getting made to counter people who are putting forth criticism hypocritically. It's easy to say "I support development but it has to be responsible" and sound like a reasonable person, and if pressed that person might say "well we need ...

Re: Minneapolis Armory

Sound in Motion (a local compay that puts on Electronic music shows) had a show at the Armory a few weeks ago, and they posted a video of the show, might be interesting if you're curious what a production looks like inside the Armory. They must really like it as a venue because they've booked a ton ...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I don't know if it still exists but it came up at caucuses many years ago (which I was attending with an at the time MN House Page who knew the specific law) that there was a moratorium on studying nuclear power, and the hippies in Seward were very happy about the moratorium, but I think someone had...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

I've seen some transit system somewhere (and I think I've posted it somewhere here) where the chairs are rear facing with the back of the wheelchair pressed up against something, and that's apparently good enough? And obviously trains don't need it, I think it has to do with the lack of lateral moti...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

Maybe a counterpoint, how often does assault start with something littler like spitting or even swearing, and can an operator reasonably know that swearing or spitting won't also escalate into an assault?

Re: Roof Depot site

The first phase part in the existing building sounds... doable. They've got a grant from the state for job development, and the building is in great shape, as well it sounds like the equipment to get started is not too expensive. I think they'd need more money to build out their store on the Greenwa...

Re: Roof Depot site

The proposal is pretty much as laid out in that Strib article. There's sort of two parts to their proposal. The first is reusing the southern most part of the current Roof Depot warehouse for "low tech" aquaponics as well as a Greenway facing portion that would be some kind of market for f...

It strikes me as a great way to close your business without really losing any goodwill from the community, allowing you to reopen something in the future.

Re: Roof Depot site

Ho boy that sure was a meeting.

Pro tip, if you're going to organize a community meeting that's going to culminate on a community "vote" and you advertise it as such, you should maybe get together and decide what it is you're actually going to vote on before hand.

Well it sounds like its office space, not a space they'll be putting on rotating exhibits, so it's not really going to draw in many, if any, visitors.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

I remember reading something once about how the historic designation of the Greenway was was carefully specified such that it's the grade separation itself that's protected, not any specific features. So, it can't be filled in, but they can make whatever modifications they need to for the rail line...
