Re: Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project
In general I like the idea of reconstruction. I see that the Majority of it will be built with federal funding. What bothers me is how the remaining reconstruction costs will be paid for by adjacent property owners. With Minneapolis having such high property taxes you would think that the policy of ...

Website is up with floor plans and pricing:
http://www.rentlpm.com
If I'm going to be honest those prices are 80% of the cost of equivalent apartments in NYC.
Come on now!!!

Re: Junction Flats - (643 Fifth Street North)
The way the developers in Minneapolis do brick veneer sheets is cheap and disgusting. They don't use interlocking panels, which are readily available. Instead every 5 feet you have a straight seam in the brick that runs the entire height of the bricked area. If they're wanting to show off their qual...

Re: 26th / 28th Streets in South Minneapolis
I think one of the main reason for these streets being two way are the hospitals. Putting that aside however my Idea would be to: Return 26th to two way traffic. Leave 28th street one way, but reverse it's direction to west bound Change 31st street to one way going east bound. This makes these roads...

Re: Does Minneapolis have too many stoplights?
I strongly agree that the River Road/Franklin/27th intersection was better with stop signs, though I did go through on my bicycle one time and was pretty much ignored by the cars who apparently weren't expecting me at all. There is a certain advantage to lights when there's non-automotive traffic i...

Bizarre story on the Strib not relating to this specific project, but to the developer:

I find it strange that his last name is Minn.

...without a complex funding mechanism that relieves that park board of most financial responsibility. They have too few funds, period. There are numerous ways to reorganize the path systems, and possibly calm Lake Street, that could be cheaper. What do you mean by "calm Lake Street?" If ...

I find it repulsive that we as a state can't find the money to replace 50 year old infrastructure. The replacement for this tunnel should have had a fund set aside for since it was built so that when the time came for its eventual replacement the money was already there. Just imagine how much cheape...

Re: What will it take to develop DTE?
Anyway my point still stands. Just like I said they can run free shuttle service to the stadium on game days from to and from the ABC ramps. There is no reason for all of that land sitting around as a parking lot in Downtown. As it stands right now 1/3 of the land area downtown is parking for the Me...

Re: What will it take to develop DTE?
Maybe you missed the memo, but the Vikings are building a new stadium in the Metrodome's place that will be there for at least 30 years. (This is assuming that by "raising" the Metrodome you actually meant "razing") Yes I meant razing which you absolutely knew before trying to b...

Am I the only one that HATES seeing seams in the brick fascade where there should really be none if it were real brick? There has to be a way to integrate the brick fascade without those hideous seams that let you know from afar that this building was made cheaply.

Re: What will it take to develop DTE?
We are about to witness the revitalization of DTE. This is what I think it needs to become fully developed. Downtown in general needs better road access to the outside communities and freeways. It is basically blocked by freeways on all sides. More freeway crossings would help. This would be no easy...

Re: The Edge on Oak
Come on. What is with this fake brick crap? You know we had brick buildings in the 1800's. Why would any developer want to make their building look like it was built 130 years ago? This is horrible. If I were Minneapolis I would pass ordinances that specifically ban new construction from using certa...

Huge draw? Your definition and mine must be different. I'm not saying it wouldn't be unique and interesting, but I hardly think it would draw a ton of people. I can think of maybe 3 people in my life that would ever even consider going on something like this and I know a lot of people that are outd...

That is pretty awesome. My wife is Malaysian and I've visited Malaysia many times. It would be cool to have something in Minneapolis that makes it stand out against other cities. This is the thing that will do that. Totally agree that we need some unique properties. I wonder how unique a 50-unit bu...

This thing is hideous. No further discussion on that point required. If I were the city I would force him to make it look better though. There has to be some kind of facade he can add to it to make it look better. To have the largest structure in Uptown be a hideous parking garage. It really ruins t...

I'm kinda not liking the fact that the Skyway didn't stay.
Although It really doesn't connect to anything I was hoping that in the future the apartment buildings downtown would all connect. It would be pretty awesome.
