Re: The Edge on Oak
No, I'm pretty sure it is. Except for the ground floor, of course. That yellow insulation will get covered up.

Re: IDS Center
I'm hoping, probably in vain, that they start leaving them on all night now, and that the Capella and Wells Fargo towers will follow suit. I'm as much for energy conservation as the next guy, but the skyline looks so cool when those three buildings are lit up, along with the Target building. I think...

Re: 1101 University Ave. SE (University Lutheran Chapel site
Meh, anecdotes don't equal data. I'm a EE major at the U, living in stadium village with 3 other guys. We're all white, middle-class males, and none of us have cars during the school year (during summer, with internships, two of us do). My guess is that the car ownership rate, averaged out among all...

Re: IDS Center
During the fireworks tonight, the lights on the top of the IDS Center were red, white and blue. Is that capability new? I'd never seen them anything but white before.

Re: Solhaus Tower
I was walking past today, so I took another picture now that the exterior is completely done.
It certainly doesn't look like anything else in the area, but I haven't decided yet whether I like it or not.

Re: Washington and Walnut Flats - 630 Washington Ave. S.E.
Which 11 story tower? Is the Arby's project supposed to be that tall? Cool.
This makes sense, though. I had heard a rumor that Noodles was relocating to SVF, but had ignored it, since I couldn't see a reason to move from their perfectly good location to one further away from the actual campus.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ
Yep. That's about the size of it.
Specifically, the top couple floors of that building are the control center that runs the transmission grid for the upper midwest. Almost every big substation from the Dakotas to Michigan is controlled remotely from there.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ
Also I think Xcel Energy may agree with the idea of creating a skyway to the library. The fact they are creating the option into the design shows they have an intent to possible consider the option which is all I can ask for They aren't. They're designing in the possibility for there to be a privat...

Re: Solhaus Tower
The four "Sol"s that I know of are Solhaus, Solhaus Tower, Solhem, and Soltva. Solhem is in uptown, Soltva is in the North Loop, and Solhaus is three blocks north of the Huron Boulevard I-94 exit. Solhaus Tower is a block south of the original Solhaus. Despite the implication of the name, ...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ
I don't have an actual layout of the second floor of the Xcel building, but I drew a (very, very rough) sketch and attached it here: X.png In this picture, the yellow area is the mezzanine area, where the HR department has their cubicles, the grey area is the cooling plant, and the blue area is all ...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ
According to the source I read, the new building isn't currently going have a skyway connection to the old one, but will be designed so they can add one in the future. Hopefully they decide to add one before they actually build it, or I don't think it'll ever happen, as useful as it would be. Howeve...

Re: The Edge on Oak
Yeah. I really, really wish they would have thought a little bigger and taken out the tofu house as well. It looks ridiculous the way it is now.
