Re: Google Maps
I think it is fairly common for imagery updates to roll out over a couple days to various platforms. According to the desktop version of Google Earth, the imagery is from April 5th of this year.

Re: 3D Apple Maps
I'd give it a little time. When I first tried to view the 3D imagery on my iPhone or iPad, I had the same problem. However I could view it on the desktop version of Apple Maps. Now it has appeared on my mobile devices. Anyways, the imagery is newer than Google's, but not super recent. I'd say late s...

Re: MSP Airport
Looks like KLM will continue service through the winter, instead of ending this fall as originally planned. Service will still be less than daily, although the flight will be upgraded to a 787-9 in October. That will be the first 787 flight for MSP. http://www.airliners.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&a...

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)
Well, that's... disappointing... I was hoping that they would be able to use some of the running time savings with the opening of the online station (and possibly running a bit faster near MOA with the modified routing) to be able to expand 15 minute service to at least Saturdays so the Red Line wou...

Looks like the onramp closure ends next Tuesday, but then the WB I-94 exit to Hennepin/Lyndale closes the next day through the end of the month. The official detour goes along 11th St. to Hennepin. After that work on the Lowry tunnel begins...

Re: Discontinued Bus Routes
Route 27 used to extend beyond Lake St. Station and followed what is now the southern part of Route 7, except that it used to deviate to serve 50th St. Station as well. Route 7 ended at Lake St.
Route 24 was what is now the southern half of Route 9.

Re: MSP Airport
Just an update on the new T2 gates they are now being used. They only seem to be used by SW airlines at this point. Southwest will be using 8-12 and Sun Country 1-7. 6 will be used by Icelandair and Condor as well. I forget, is it 14 gates now? So there are still a few unused? *ahem* jetBlue! *ahem*

Re: A Line - Arterial Rapid Bus
It seems to me that extending route 84 to the TCAAP site is a much more realistic and reasonable use of resources than extending the A Line in the near/mid term. Route 84 could essentially replace route 225, just extend farther to the new development. Even something like having every other 84 trip e...

One would hope that is the C Line is shifted to Glenwood, as seems to be the preferred outcome, that the bus stops would be islands with the bike lane shifted behind them to avoid bus conflicts.

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar
I do think its worth pointing out that the conceptual transit operating plans I've seen for the 18 don't force everyone to transfer at Lake St. The plan calls for a limited stop bus from downtown to Nicollet and 66th running every 20 minutes, a local bus running from 108th to Lake St. every 20 minut...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
I will probably continue to use my Go-To card, but this does seem pretty good for visitors and occasional users. Perhaps I might use it for a day pass some time. I bought a 3 day pass using the Muni-mobile app when I was in San Fransisco this spring, and it was convenient. Everything there is proof-...

All the events on Sept. 1st lead to record ridership levels, with 117,053 rides on light rail, more than 16,000 higher than the previous record. 369,626 people took transit in total that day. Here's the news release:

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Good news about the 2, always nice to have more routes at every 10 minutes even on Sundays. The 62 now basically fits the criteria for the high frequency network, but isn't included. It's probably because it is a fairly small portion of the route, but it seems like they could pretty easily make it h...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Anoka is fairly doable on a weekend, and it is to a city with some semblance of urbanity. The main trouble is there isn't much time to walk to downtown Anoka and get back for the next train inbound, so you are looking at about 6 hours or so to entertain yourself. The other option is to bus one way a...

The photo in that press release was taken during one of the electric bus demonstrations last year. I am seated next to the guy in the red hat. You know what the fare was for that ride? $0.00! Socialism!!!!11
