Re: 735 S Cleveland- Edina Realty Redevelopment
Personally, I'm OK with the design. It's not offensive and will bring three new retail tenants to Cleveland while replacing a surface parking lot. What's not to like? Half the buildings on Cleveland look like ass, but that doesn't mean it's not a nice place to spend an hours or so on the weekend. Th...

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
Do the plans call for any changes to the central portion of the building that faces the Target Center (mainly, the section above the hotel entrance). It looks completely out of place with the exterior design of the rest of the building.

Re: Portland Tower - 516 S. 8th St.
I think this building will do just fine. Due to the location, it'll take some time for the higher prices units to sell, but they will sell. Keep in mind, the Sexton had a dozen or so units priced over half a million. No reason why those would sell and not these.

Re: Thresher Square Hotel & Washington/Chicago Apartments
I do complain about design from time to time, but I honestly don't think it makes a difference unless it's a building that truly stands out and is intended to be a center point for the neighborhood. In this case, the building's main feature is its retail tenant. It could be the ugliest building in t...

I don't see this as an issue. Units will pay their fair share. if the cost of heating was shared across the entire building, monthly rents would go up and people would still have to pay for it.

That's pretty impressive. Wasn't aware that they were adding their own staircase between their floors. I think this is a great move for the star tribune and will allow the different print and digital teams to work better together. A fitting space for a newspaper that's focused on stayng relevant in ...

Re: 729 Washington Av N
Personally, I think it's amazing how the city would even consider the construction of a stand alone parking structure when they limit the number of parking sports that developer can include in their buildings. Why have rules in place if there's such a massive loophole. Isn't the point of limited par...

Re: Nye's Redevelopment - 100 block of E Hennepin Avenue
If this is the biggest issue that could keep the building from being built, the developer needs to work with the church to come up with a solution. The church's complain isn't that the building shouldn't be built, it's that the construction process may cause damage to the historic church. All that's...

Re: Stanton Condo Project - 121 12th Ave S
Also interesting that this is being sold by an insurance company, how did they come in possession of it? I wonder if they bought it as an investment? Riversource is Ameriprise's Insurance brand, but I'm not totally sure that the building it owned by Ameriprise. The building is used by Cenveo, a pri...

Re: Stanton Condo Project - 121 12th Ave S
The difference is that other developers are not willing to finance the construction of a condo project on their own. Anyone know why? I'm sure all the other developers have the cash to spare, but they probably don't like the idea of tying up that much of their own cash in a project for 2-4 years.

I think we need a little diversity in height, but I don't think the area really needs anything higher than 15-20 floors.

That's great news. I live about 2 miles away and we're really pleased with the recent changes to Payne. The neighborhood is still a bit sketchy at times, but that should change over time as more businesses move into the area. The two buildings that have been purchased have a lot of character. Can't ...

Re: Minneapolis Cable Television
Getting the franchise agreement must also give them more access to laying fiber. Yes, they could technically offer the TV service over the internet, but most people in Minneapolis still get their internet from Comcast. There wouldn't be much incentive for customers to pay Comcast for Internet and Ce...

Prism is an IPTV service, but it works just like Cable of Google Fiber's TV service. The only difference between Comcast and an CenturyLink's TV services is that they are passed over different wires. Here's a good link which compares the two types of services. http://electronicdesign.com/ios/iptv-vs...

Thanks for sharing the grid. I think the best option would be to stick with the grid, but use all the blocks for high-density residential and office space with the exception for one to use used as a neighborhood park/plaza for community events. By high-density, I'm thinking 3-5 story buildings mixed...

Re: 10th & Marquette Development
The only issue I have whit this development is the townhomes. The images I saw at first got me excited because it looked like it was going to be retail lining the street, but that's not the case. Yes, the checked pattern certainly isn't for everyone, but I'm willing to give that a pass if the develo...

With the transformation of Block E across the street, it may be the right time for a chain restaurant to move in. As much as I hate to downtown's that are filled with dozens of chain restaurants, we've lost nearly all of our in the past 10 years. We used to have a TGI Fridays, Applebee'ss and Chevy'...

The reason Saks will take a lot longer to move in is because they can't start any work until the current tenants move to their new locations. It'll probably be mid summer before the two restaurants are set up on the other side on the second floor. I have a feeling that the side entrance will be rewo...

Re: 700 Central Avenue Northeast Apartments
Seems like they may be planning to so this in different phases or have simply given up on the new construction portion of the project. I'd hate to see them renovate the old buildings and not build anything on the empty lot right next to it. Seems like a waste of land - especially when this side of t...
