Re: Dight Ave
So Google maps has renamed the avenue to Cheatham Ave but the house address and most of the businesses are still listed as Dight Ave. I would have thought those would have been automatically changed with the street name.

Judging by how much people pay for a condo in Eleven I bet land value wouldn't be a problem at 21st if it could be zoned transit 10. I bet the penthouse views would be amazing.Psst, the thing that's keeping anything from being developed over here isn't the zoning, it's the land value.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Having been a reasonably frequent RTD (Denver) rider at one point, I'd prefer that we err on the side of too many stations over too few - I also did a ton of e-scootering, since my workplace, less than two miles from downtown, was adjacent to the LRT tracks but more than a mile from a station in ei...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I’ve long had a wild idea in my head in which 77 gets the flyover and 62 gets widened — but in exchange for supporting freeway capacity, Minneapolis gets a calmed and pleasant Cedar Ave. That is, the connection from 77 to Cedar is severed, the viaduct over Nokomis goes away, and the grid is re-esta...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Adding stations also adds time. If South Minneapolis had as tightly packed stations as the four in Bloomington it would add quite a bit of time to a trip from downtown to the airport.

Not only are there several but they span entire blocks. The old Donaldson's warehouse spans the entire block from 36th to 37th and is at least 3 levels. I keep getting flyers in the mail from these guys so I'm guessing they aren't full. Is there really that much demand for storage?

I wonder if would make a difference anyway. I've seen plenty of people driving on the red lanes on 7th. And I don't believe MPD does traffic enforcement.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I agree Basset Creek has the most potential of the three stations. But within a half mile we have Bryn Mawr Park, Parade park and the ROW for I394, I94 and freight rail so a significant portion of the land can not be developed. Although the impound lot and surrounding area do look intriguing. Could ...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
Since I see no marq2 topic I guess I'll post here. Why isn't marq2 bus lanes painted red? I would think a little paint might be able to signal to people those lanes are for buses. And as long as I'm posting in the Orange line tread. I wonder how much demand an extension to the north along 35w would ...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I'm starting to think it would have been better to add bicycle and walking paths along the rail line and deleted City West. It isn't much further to Opus station from the Optum building and both stations adjacent have parking lots so I'm not sure who would drive past one of those to reach City West....

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
Out of curiosity why are the opt out service providers allowed into downtown? They seem to trow fits when Metro Transit runs a bus into their territory but I see plenty of them downtown or by the U. Instead of driving all those southwest buses into downtown maybe use 98th and have the Orange line ca...

Re: Suburban Transit (Opt-out Services Providers)
Route 480 looks so similar I wonder if some of the projected ridership would come at its expense. I assume people who want to travel from Burnsville to Capital Rice would just take the green line. And if I'm reading this correctly 300 riders per day?

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I happened to drive by City West Station today and I'm a bit surprised how close it is to the freeway. Is this station for just the little island of buildings or will pedestrian bridges be built across the freeways? I'm not seeing much room for TOD (especially with it being surrounded by freeways). ...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I wonder how hard it would be to automate the trains. I would think a self driving train would be easier to accomplish than a self driving car. Not much steering going on that I can think of.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
There were some sloppy/slanted lines from KSTP in the story, but I wouldn't rank that as one of them. At least one Hennepin County Commissioner (Chair Marion Greene IIRC) has explicitly stated that they don't think Hennepin County taxpayers should foot the entire bill for the latest overages, and t...

Minneapolis ranked 5th in TPL parkscore ranking. https://www.tpl.org/parkscore I'm not sure what to make of this. Are these ratings believable? I feel Minneapolis was short changed a bit. During yesterday's City Council Meeting on the North Commons Park transformation, a staff member said they don'...

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus
If they allow the northbound at Twins way why couldn't a southbound at 10th and Twins way be paired with it? Maybe something could be built on the parking lot similar to the building going up on the other side of the stadium so it could have year round use. I'm guessing because of the operational d...
