Re: The Penfield
Work is progressing nicely. They've been removing the exterior of the former sales building, excavation of the parking lot has begun, and they've started on the roof of the skyway.

Re: 1890 University Ave (former Porky's site)
Does anyone know if there are any updates on this project? Another seven story building along University will be great. It recently went before the zoning and planning commissions. I believe everything has been approved. There may be a few formalities remaining. But this is a go. I saw some basic m...

Parking parking parking "This is all I have to say." LOL. Is this enough for you? And that picture doesn't include two large parking lots ( plus a 1000 space public ramp ) at the intersection of 7th and Jackson just NE of Mears Park. Plenty of room as well for tailgating. http://img266.im...

Re: IDS Center
I would agree those issues would be a concern if Minneapolis-StPaul were building 30-50 story office skyscrapers all the time. But our cities are not. We haven't had a major office skyscraper in either downtown for ten years. Even the new Xcel HQ building won't even rate as a high rise. I'll endure ...

OMG. They've gotta be kidding. It's not even worth a tenth of that. The property accross the street(200 West 7th) is on the market - 10 million - good luck with that price.

Re: Central Corridor LRT
Getting *all* of the track done this year is impossible in my mind. I think there's a non-zero chance that the straight-through pieces can be installed by then, but I wouldn't place any bets on it. The crossover switches and the complex track layout at the operations facility will take quite a whil...

Re: Central Corridor LRT
From my understanding, all road/sidewalk/track work should be finished by the end of the year. I don't know how realistic it is for the trackwork to be completed, or the U of M mall, but roadwork looks like it will be done on time. Next year is electric work and caternary installation. I have no id...

I think we gotta wait till sometime in August to see if the line qualified for any funding through DEED's bonding money.

Re: Central Corridor LRT
I really don't see this opening in early '14. Honestly, I'll be impressed if trains are carrying passengers by Labor Day '14. And I wouldn't be surprised if the line isn't 100% finished by Thanksgiving. I recall Hiawatha's full completion was several months behind schedule. The MetCouncil puts out x...

I'm a bit confused at the enthusiasm for this project. I guess i must be wrong with my disappointment; since it appears I'm the only one that just hates this project. Hopefully it looks better at the end of the day. I'm a bit disappointed with this project too. I like that downtown will be getting ...

Great to see this project filling up. Hopefully more developers notice and we see more commercial development in the future. I'm happy we have an apartment boom, but an office one would be so much better for our economy.

Re: 222
The building will be taller than other typical six floor buildings. IIRC, the site plans showed the height of the residential floors is 85 feet. While the very top of the corner turrets reach all the way to 110' to the tips of the spires. Given the dearth of nearby buildings. I think this building w...

Re: The Penfield
The notice in my building stated the city will be providing upcoming schedules and so forth. I'll post when I hear more. As far as I know, demolition will take approximately four months. They're going to brace the south and part of the the west wall to incorporate it into the new building. After dem...
