Re: East of Pascal, West of Lexington, north of I-94

As long as there is a sign on University that says Target, people will be slowing down and looking for it. Anyway, close to 90 % of their business is repeat customers and people from the area that know where Target is. It is not like you are going to be building a solid block long wall that will cut...

Re: 365 Nicollet - (Opus Ritz block)

The suburbs were willing to give away, with hopes that it would help spur future development and increase their tax base. Not sure if Mounds View got the bang for their buck with other tax worthy developments that helped to make the TIF worth it. While the BB campus was some what a bust, it did open...

Re: 365 Nicollet - (Opus Ritz block)

I have no doubt that Best Buy and Medtronic looked at the downtown as an option for their headquarters. But both chose suburban campuses where they could easily expand as their needs grew. Medtronic probably did the right thing with going to Fridley. As they have several different buildings with dif...

Re: Pillsbury "A" Mill Redevelopment

Seems strange for an event center, especially when I thought the event center that was next to Tugs expanded as part of the old Potter restaurant space in St. Anthony Main, facing first. Seems strange to try and make two go so close together.

Re: Northeast - General Topics

That's true for stop-light cameras (at least as they were implemented here) -- I don't know about speed cameras. With the apartment crawl spreading north, the likes of the 700 Central, Red 20, Superior Plating apartments, and the US Bank tower there should be enough patrons that will help to keep i...

Re: Pillsbury "A" Mill Redevelopment

The Machine Shop just north of the A Mill is still being worked on. But there is a Yoga studio open in the lower level of the building. Can't wait to see how the rest of the building turns out once they get place finished up. Also the underground and upper parking deck make a great use of the space ...

Okay let's not get personal please. I don't have a "short attention span", I just don't see this site as a very big deal. I'm sorry Grant, but every site on the mall is a big deal. Why we are upset with City Center, The Y's destroying the Gaviidee interior, the lack of retail on the groun...

Re: Rochester

There has been off-and-on talk of light rail connecting the airport to downtown, but I'm sure it's a loooong way in the future Biggest problem with going out to the airport is ROW and also tying in with other developments to get real ridership numbers that make sense and help to make the least of a...

Re: East of Pascal, West of Lexington, north of I-94

Any thoughts on the possible redevelopment of this area. Some of the current tenants include: Super target, Walmart, and others. To me, it just seems like there's a lot of wasted space being taken up by parking lots. I feel that target being so far south of University Avenue is a huge disservice to...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics

It is safer for me to walk to the grocery store after dark in the city than it is for your relatives in rural areas to go driving at night and hit a deer and get inured or killed by that. I'd say my odds are much lower than theirs.

Re: Lyndale & 66th Street area - Richfield

Opposite of Southtown. There are a few sections that have business. The rest of the land/building is a waste of potential money. One would think that an owner would want to maximize their potential profits. Find uses for land that does not make them any money, but are taxed on anyways.

Re: 365 Nicollet - (Opus Ritz block)

No podium and 20 stories to much better than a podium and 24 stories in the long run. There would really not be enough height difference to make a real difference in the skyline. But the lack of a podium would make a HUGE difference to the streetscape of the mall and any other street here in MPLS. W...

Re: 365 Nicollet - (Opus Ritz block)

If dropping this one means a better chance for the United groups project to get off the ground then I'm all for this to stay a parking lot. Maybe once the Franklin Building is built and they show Opus how to do a class act. Maybe we will get something worthy of the site. I still prefer a mix of Resi...

Re: 365 Nicollet - (Opus Ritz block)

The parking podium is better than surface lot (argument*) would make sense if there weren't a healthy number of other projects going on in Downtown and other neighborhoods without it. Parking podiums can cause just as much visual displeasure as a surface lot. imo. I have to agree with you on that s...

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

I think the Idea was if it was changed from a 3 bedroom rental to a fully renovated single family home it would increase in value. Pumping in another quarter million to update the kitchen, bathrooms and electrical and plumbing, sand the wood floors and then, you might get it closer to 3/4 of a mil,...

Just out of curiosity he, is the apartment building located near transit? Will residents being able to utilize the blue line extension?
