I assume Amazon wanted like $50 billion in incentives and BP showed them the door. I am not a fan of AMZN!

That looks like an office building -- does St. Paul need office space?

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
Maybe they can coin the term “integrated, but equal”.... Re: the four-plex proposal, I’m all for it and want to see it pass through. I expect an absolute sh*t storm from separatists who want to keep their neighborhood in Mayberry. Assuming I lived in a place like Linden Hills or Kenwood, I’d want in...

Re: Loring Park Neighborhood
That’s cool, I’d also be in favor of keeping it that way. It gives the streets character! I could see something similar to that playing positively (with kids) around school zones (think: Reading Rainbow). I wish it were our (Mpls’) idea but it seems like at least SF already does something like that....

Re: Art and Architecture Building Redevelopment - 3338 University Ave SE - 17 Stories / 195'
The only downside is 3329 University Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414. It is the building across the street is a naloxene and naltrexone distribution center, which brings out the locals in the morning. Most drug rehad centers are done with daily meds around 10am, but it can be a little sketchy before ...

Re: Dismantling Downtown Freeways
Those fantasy maps are great, but one thing I think they miss is the length off ramps require to be safe. The very lowest threshold in the city is from 35W to 4th st and University ave. Those ramps are so short, cars come screaming off the freeway and need to slam on the brakes. Super unsafe for al...

Re: Latest Census Estimates and Met Council Projections
Pretty cool....definitely hoping that some places like SLP, Edina, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Richfield, etc. are a bit under-counted. I've probably said it here before and I'll say it again now, but I'd love to see our metro grow closer to 15% decennially and we're still hovering around 10%-11%. Perhap...

Re: Grandview District - Edina
I'd be thrilled to get a lid anywhere. I don't think this is the best place for it in the whole area, but it would be great to get projects like this happening somewhere to prove they can work around here. So I'll take Edina's being first if we have to. I don't understand it unless the land values ...

Thanks! Seeing the latest aerial makes me wonder just how much longer the Burlington/Micro Center site just off of 36th street and Hwy. 100 can hold out before being sold for redevelopment (assuming that is part of the small area plan for this part of SLP). Same goes for the Discoveries for Children...

That's going to leave Northtown with only a Best Buy and a Burlington Coat Factory as anchors. Leaves Macy's as the only anchor at Southdale too. FWIW, the current locations are: Midway St. Paul Rosedale - previously announced closure Southdale Northtown Southtown - previously announced closure Sti...

Here’s a 1971 aerial that has the Excelsior-100 bridge now completed (36th was yet to come many years later.) https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180417/4a6d0f8b233e23840bf1a0696bb38d3a.jpg Byerly’s and Target are in a former gravel pit! I hope this doesn’t turn into a medical complex ghetto, with no other uses. Did Wooddale used to continue across into what is now the parking lot, continuing to Target & Byerly’s? I assume Byerly’s will be redeveloped at some point, as the parking lot is virtually always empty. I HATE that inte...

Dumb question: why would that prohibit offices but allow for retail? If anything I'd expect it to prohibit residential first and foremost. You could do offices I suppose, but if I remember correctly this site is pretty badly contaminated and not suited for residential.

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics
The city invested a lot of time and resources planning replacing the old strip that was here, redesigning the unfortunate Wooddale-Excelsior-100 intersection into the current alignment so that the McDonalds-Boston Market-Theater-ex Granite City could fit for maximum restaurant and retail parking. I...

Re: Minneapolis Density and Population Growth (500k, etc)
My wife's parents were in town over the weekend from Cleveland (you'd be surprised how much complaining we heard about the weather, ironically) and they decided to stay at the Double Tree Hotel near the West End in St. Louis Park -- originally for two key reasons: 1. close proximity to where we live...
