Re: Athletic Department Practice Facilities
In that case, those "faculty" have no business being at a university.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
How about leaving the LRT in place and moving 4th to the other side of it using the parking lots and connect it 3rd st as it goes under the LRT tracks? The parking lots are owned by the Wilfs so I guess they would have to be on board - maybe could have negotiated some like this in the beginning.

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)
This weekend was the first shutdown that I've had to experience here-- can anyone shed any light on whether this is how Metro Transit has been dealing with rail closures in the past? No matter how you do it, shuttle buses are inconvenient, but having dealt with closures in other cities before, I ha...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I am sure there are many reasons why it won't work or make sense but I think it would be cool to a have a connection between the West Bank station and Cedar Riverside station skirting Currie Park so service could run between Green and Blue lines without connecting at the Metrodome station - it could...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
If there is one design element they could incorporate that would make the street feel very pedestrian friendly, in my opinion it would be to eliminate curbs. The preliminary renderings suggest that they already intend to denote different street functions through the use of different surface materia...

Wow - that is crazy! Talk about guts - didn't even seem to flinch when the guy waves around a gun or pulls out a club.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
That is awesome...feel like I may have seen it from the train from Amsterdam to Paris. I have a vague recollection of seeing something similar but couldn't figure out what it was at the time. Anyway, too bad we cann't have an elevated bike path traversing the whole Hennepin-Lyndale triangle mess.

I believe that was the reason Shaun Murphy (the Minneapolis bicycle coordinator) gave for not wearing a helmet.

That is exciting! I look forward to seeing what you all come up with. I see that space out office window and often walk by it and fantasize about it being redeveloped.

Re: Climate Change
Not sure I know of many people who would spend 5-6 years in graduate school, a couple years or more postdoc-ing, apply for every available academic job in the hopes of getting one, 5-7 years of 60-70 hour work weeks to get tenure - in the quest for money(?), power(?), politics(?), getting invited to...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I guess I would prefer if one or both streets were closed for the sake of the park but its not like it cann't be done at a later date after the stadium and development are done if it seems to make sense.

Re: Elan Uptown Phase I - (2837 Dupont Avenue South)
Couldn't agree more...paneling looks awesome and why oh why cann't we bury a few power lines around here! It is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. One example that really gets me are the 8 power poles in the little parking lot behind the Espresso Expose building in stadium village. I was so hopeful that ...

Re: Five15 On the Park - (1515 5th Street South)
Maybe they could move it further down 6th to the SE corner on Cedar. It would fill out the block of 1-2 story commercial buildings. Obviously don't know if the owners of the lot would be interested but seems like it might fit there nicely.

Re: Current University of Minnesota Projects
I would love to see some serious redevelopment of that side of Washington - you're right it is nothing over 2 stories and virtually the entire block on all sides is under developed. I think it would be cool to see the street across from the alumni center park filled in but leaving the Stub and Herb'...

Re: Current University of Minnesota Projects
Having just moved into the Cancer/Cardio research building, myself and many of my coworkers are feeling a little removed from campus. As beautiful as the building is and thankful I am for the new space, I really wish it was on the other side of the stadium. I would love it if some of the new housing...
