Re: Oakland Apartments (213-215 South 9th St) and neighbors

Oh please, tear it down. Free up that block so something nice can be built.
There's plenty of space to build around it.

Re: City Club Apartments - 1000 Marquette Ave (Handicraft Building)

One time my neighbors oven was on the fritz for about a week and she asked to use mine a couple times, it was nice we talked and hung out and she shared some baked goods. Heaven forbid these millennials end up taking to each other and sharing a resource. Or going to a friend's to do whatever it is t...

http://www.southwestjournal.com/news/2019/03/after-decades-at-franklin-lyndale-vision-loss-resources-plans-to-sell-site/ The swjournal covered this as well. This article has a second rendering showing up to 3 retail bays heading north on lyndale. That would be so great. I hope a developer runs with...

Re: Southside - General Topics

YAAASS! (... but is this uptown?...) I kinda wanna see the Lyndale presence and how the bike bridge access works out. It doesn't seem to change anything with the road or bike bridge. I love this. And have been fantasizing for a while about a project here. I'm a homeowner on the 1900 block of Aldric...

This is fine. Great even, for some people.

Yeah way more glass. I like that much better, sounds like they're differentiating themselves from eleven as much as possible which is good.

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Development Site

Wow. This got ugly enough to be built on nicollet.
Lost all architectural dimension, any interest it had in the roof area is gone... it's about to be one of the most visible apartment buildings in the city... and it's generic af, doesn't even have decent retail. Not my favorite.

Initial marketing is online for this project -- 'Second & Second' -- https://secondandsecond.com It's mostly to get ahead of the retail leasing. Being advertised are spaces 1,000-14,000 square feet. Here is the brochure . In the brochure it says "future boutique hotel" where the old f...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

Definitely a lot of parking, but nice looking building on a difficult lot. I could imagine the parking being helpful if trying to develop the parking lot just to the north though as well. (At least it's below grade next do a tail trench?)

It's actually a really small building for 10 stories. Pretty good scale for this area I think.

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

Maybe just naive hope on my part, but it could be a cool sign that adds to the skyline. When I say this, I’m thinking specifically of the 1st National Bank sign in St Paul. It’s tough for me to think of St Paul without it. On a silly note, maybe they could put the weather ball on the sign!!!! Lol T...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'

It's weird that this site still has to carry its 'iconic' baggage. If this is a mediocre development, then... what is everything else that's been built in the last two decades? I mean, this will literally be the best high-rise building built in Minneapolis since at least 2007 (Carlyle), and I'd arg...

Just start over. They don't NEED anything. It's not some amazing project the city should bend over backwards for.

Re: Southside - General Topics

Well I agree with them that just posting a lower speed limit there won’t make it safer. But the conversation can’t end there. Surely the city can try some tactical urbanism to force drivers to slow down—add a jog in the street, paint the whole block with stripes to let drivers know that it’s a cros...

I would hope the block can develop in 2 or 3 separate parcels. I'd really like some retail on the corner diagonal from gold medal park.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

People with money can also 2 hour Amazon most things to their apartment, I don't think the concept of having a car is directly related to where retail is. People want the independence and autonomy associated with it, it's very ingrained and will take generations to change.
