Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
It is absolutely worthwhile exploring aBRT on WBA but the Purple Line should not go here. Adding dedicated bus lanes to White Bear would conflict with the county's desire to get rid of 4 lane (or 6 lane) death roads and it is already an unpleasant place to exist. The Vento alignment provides new ser...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Yes they should be on the train, riding with us. If MTPD was riding with us, maybe my ride home to downtown St Paul wouldn't have included multiple people smoking, one person puking, one person lighting a 12 inch incense stick with a massive open flame, and a used condom thrown on the floor. All wit...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
While not a great loss, I've taken the 16 more often than the Green Line in the last year. Due to its very low ridership, it was effectively faster than the train.

Did we miss this proposed 185 room, 10 story SpringHill Suites near Wacouta Commons? http://www.startribune.com/new-hotel-to-be-built-in-downtown-st-paul/491048341/ https://goo.gl/maps/7td31f67RAS2 So will the buildings (e.g. Pomeroy's) facing E 7th will be demolished? All current buildings are sta...

I'll be joining you!The Rush Line has started its local station area planning meetings with community members to refine where to put the stations. They have also sent out confirmations to people on the Community Advisory Committee (I'll be on it).

Re: 244 4th Street E
I really like this building a lot. I wish there was ground level retail, but the footprint is understandably a bit small for that. I hope we see many more similar new construction projects in the Lowertown district going forward.

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
I was there just a few weeks ago, and most of those places were still open. It's sad to me to see the downward spiral. I hope there's enough political will and economic drive to do something better with this property when the time comes.

Re: Wabasha Center (Former Macy's) - Downtown St. Paul
This is truly disappointing. The atrocious signage, the half-assed glass facade, the ugly mural, confusing layout...I still would have preferred spend the money to tear this down rather than be left with this. I actually this this building is worse now than it was as Dayton's/Macy's.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I like the signals on Jackson, although it will take a little time for drivers to get used to them. The bicycle signals only blink yellow when drivers also have a flashing yellow arrow, so the idea is that everyone needs to be cautious, but bikes still have the right of way since they are proceeding...

If you live in St Paul, coming from downtown, the best kept secret is the 3. Gets you to the same place, without a transfer. The bus is usually virtually empty.

Probably 64 into downtown and transfer, which isn't horrible but definitely out of your way, especially if you're going east.

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Wow, MTC, way to crap on the east metro. Sure, there's less ridership, but it makes a slim network even more difficult to use for those dependent on it.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Also, I see approx 3 cars per DAY drive down the Jackson CCB because they think it's a special car lane, and they turn across 2 lanes of traffic to get to it. Low and behold they are on the sidewalk. It is very well marked, and nothing else on the ROW is asphalt, but it's really hard to fix stupid.

Re: Metro Transit fares
I really like the discount, but I like the convenience of the GoTo card even more. I would use the card over cash any day, even without the discount. I suspect I might have the luxury of resources (which also allows me to plan ahead) which others might not have.

Re: Metro Transit fares
Regions does pay 25% of any value added to your GoTo card, which is the same discount you'd get on parking in one of their ramps. But you have to choose either parking or transit, not both. The nice thing is it's pre-tax and you get the added 10% bonus that everyone gets from loading the card, and a...

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News
I would hate to see this area completely implode as it's my old stomping ground, and still the mall I go to if need be. The smaller tenants in Maplewood Mall have already started to disappear at an alarming rate (mostly from nationwide closures). There is new development as @mamundsen said, includin...
