Re: Eleven (Ryan Condo Tower) - 1111 West River Parkway - 43 stories / 526'
Why on the property tax map does this show as one large parcel with two parcel ids (2302924440021, 2302924440022)? The parkway shouldn't have a private driveway added just because the plan for this parcel wasn't thought out ahead of time. Limos, trucks, buses and other large vehicles are supposed to...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
BNSF's position towards sharing the corridor with passenger rail remains unchanged. http://www.startribune.com/railroad-not-interested-in-negotiating-with-met-council-for-bottineau-light-rail/480996701/ An executive with BNSF Railway has told the Metropolitan Council — again — that the company is no...

Hennepin County has an interactive map where you can leave notes about walking and biking around the station areas. In the Golden Valley station area I am pulling for a better connection between Theodore Wirth Park and Sochacki Park, which is directly to Theo Wirth's north. Biking from Theo Wirth th...

It's really a damn shame that the theater was leveled. Like you said upthread, at40man, would have been nice to put the Hy-Vee in the lower level of this new development. Hope the St. Petersburg finds a new home nearby, and it keeps its charm, but glad at least another surface lot is being removed/r...

A busy-ish four lane + turn lane road in La Crosse, WI has its speed limit reduced from 30 MPH to 25 MPH. Much drama in the FB comments ensues. The city council voted on the change based on neighborhood input. Background article from the local paper : According to a 2008 city traffic study, the medi...

Don't let the 17,000 pages number scare you from digging in. The overview chapters do a good job of covering the breadth of this project, and are pretty well organized to help you dig into whatever topic might interest you the most. http://www.metrocouncil.org/swlrt/feis It looks like a lot of the b...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
Does anyone with familiarity in how infrastructure project management works know why municipal consent is scheduled at only 15% of design? Why not have a complete picture presented to cities along the route. Everyone can go into the consent process with their eyes open. The Met Council has moved con...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
One other difference with Theo Worth: I believe the extension will run in an already designated rail corridor, so they wont be able to use the "park taking" argument. It already is a rail corridor! The stations will require taking park land. The MPRB should be fanatical in protecting Theo...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
What people now view as 'parkland' is really just overgrown industrial wastelands filled with weeds. You can create a park out of land that was once not a park. Check out Fresh Kills Park in New York, that is sitting on top of a landfill. Maybe grass and trees don't excite you much, but many of us ...

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden & Walker Art Center
In a couple of recent articles dealing with the Hennepin-Lyndale horrorshow there is a stakeholder document which mentions, "...the Walker and the Park Board are planning to reconstruct the Sculpture Garden in 2015..." Does anyone have more details on what that reconstruction will look like?

Re: Minneapolis Fiber
Back in the '90s, I remember people talking about the concept of pulling fiber, and at least at that time you were likely to get reamed by the phone company, even if you were going between two isolated sites, because you had to rent space on their telephone poles. I suspect this is one reason among...
