Re: Southwest LRT
Wasn't sure where exactly to post this thought, but I'm concerned that if St. Paul is trying to get $27 million in DEED money for the Lowertown stadium, and the Met Council is trying to get $14 million in DEED money for the Southwest Corridor, out of a total pot of $47 million, that probably spells...

Re: 1368 LaSalle Ave development
Nice, a Lull Telehandler. Looks like there is an attachment on it, but I cannot tell for sure given the perspective. IIRC, the anticipated start date was "late summer." Perhaps that will become a reality. In any event, I live close by and will enjoy watching this tower go up. I volunteer f...

Re: 1890 University Ave (former Porky's site)
Nice. I love all these projects along University that are already being proposed/approved. Really helps to prove the LRT naysayers wrong.

Cannot wait for this site to get cleaned up and redeveloped. It is a tremendous location for something truly great.

Re: Lake & Nicollet
Finance & Commerce covers the topic: http://finance-commerce.com/2012/07/city-of-minneapolis-tackles-riddle-of-reopening-nicollet/ There's mention of the "complicated" land ownership situation, which doesn't strike me as all that complicated. There are two parcels, each owned by diffe...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
I love the skyway system. It serves an important purpose: it makes working downtown pleasurable and appealing. I question whether downtown Minneapolis would have a workforce of 180,000 if we didn't have our vibrant and quirky skyway network. Sure, if you limit or destroy the skyway, businesses that ...

The Paxon - (324 First Street North)
"NORTH LOOP — Sherman Associates is moving ahead with a five-story, 125-unit apartment development at the site of a long-stalled condo project called the Reserve. The developer presented conceptual drawings of the project to the North Loop Neighborhood Association’s Planning & Zoning Commit...

Surly Brewery - (Malcolm Avenue & 5th Street SE)
Surly is making progress selecting a site for its Brewery. I'm not sure if these specifics have been revealed before. "One of the possible sites in Minneapolis is 3171 5th Street SE, a former food processing plant just east of the University of Minnesota. That location is a stone's throw from t...

Re: Lake & Nicollet
Get it done!
I've often heard that this is one of K-Mart's highest performing stores, which, perhaps, helps explain why it has been extremely difficult to undo this planning failure.

Re: Nicollet Residences
I'll take slicing off 6 floors over not building at all. 27 stories will still make a nice impact on the skyline.

Re: Trader Joes (Lyndale and 27th)
I support this project. I'm glad that the developer listened to many legitimate concerns and made modifications. While it may be preferred to have TJs incorporated into a multi-use, multi-story, project, I still think that this will be a net plus to the neighborhood. TJs will likely attract more per...

Re: Uptown Theatre
I haven't been paying attention to this, but I love that the theatre is getting a face lift. I especially like that it will include a bar, something every theatre should have. Anyone know what the plans are (if any) for the marquee and sign? I imagine they are just leaving the sign as-is, although I...
