A little unfortunate this will be on two major roads + the railroad tracks. Makes it harder to make this "Brew District" an actual thing. But otherwise this is amazing. Minneapolis is completely void of places like this.
Nice job 612Brew and nice job Surly.

Re: Velo apartments
The Merit printing building will be torn down for this development and it's located at 117 North 2nd Street. But the address of the new project will probably be different. This is a great design. Are we really sure this is stick-built or just assuming? I'm not sure it would even be possible given th...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
Great idea IMO, but only for Friday and Saturday night from April to November.I would like to see 1st avenue closed to traffic from 7th st. to 4th st. No one walks on the sidewalks down there anyways, lets take back the street!

What about Bloomington? Maybe the Hilton off 494?
Seriously though, I think the logo sans St Paul it pretty rad.

Re: Introductions
Tyler, Why did you change your name? Hmm. Good question. It was a split-second decision. I'd say it was a combo of wanting to be slightly less anonymous and because newsole was a lame name anyways. Almost went with TangoPudding but felt it was a bit ostentatious. Also Tyler is my first name, so som...

Re: Block E
It think it would be a lot easier to do such a thing with new development than in a retrofit of a lame, block-sized three story box.

Yep, for the time being at least. I saw them a couple nights ago. Better than on the street corner.Thats pretty cool.
I have been waiting for that project. Do you think mega bus will still use that adjacent lot for their stop?

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
The only reason Washington is busy is because of the 35W ramps and because people don't know any better. It's already terrible as a through street. 3rd and 4th take half the time to get across downtown. So while I'm kind of on your side in general I think this is a great vision for Washington specif...

This will be cool. Love the flavors of everything they do at WSK. I do hope it doesn't mean too much less of Saed and Sameh at Saffron (my favorite restaurant in MSP).
Looking forward to the Isaac Becker steakhouse as well.

Plan B was office space with a really really really really big sign for the tenant. What they did to the first floor would make or break it.

Here's a link to a really good article on "entertainment districts" by someone I'd seen on Minnescraper in the past, he writes for Strong Towns , also a really good website. http://nathanielhood.com/2012/05/06/avoiding-the-allure-of-entertainment-districts/ The lesson being that very, ver...

Re: Block E
I still want them to demolish the entire half along Hennepin and build something else. Maybe even split the block with a pedestrian walkway and line it with restaurants, bars and/or retail.

This buildings an abomination. The rendering looks 5x better, and not just because of the colored panels.

Re: Vikings Stadium
I like that one. I also loved the partially reused dome concept Ellerbe Becket also did from a few years ago. http://www.ellerbebecket.com/success/newsitem/454/Metrodome_Designers_Unveil_Extreme_Makover_Stadium_Edition_.html I do hope they get the job. Qwest is awesome so they do have a track record...
