West Lake Quarter - 3430 List Place (295' - 24 stories)
Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (295' - 24 stories)
It'll be nice if this project had some nice lighting at the top. It will be very visible throughout the city.
Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (295' - 24 stories)
A ton of trees have been cut down and cleared out on the north side of the site. I have no idea if it's for light rail construction or not, but it's where the first phase would go, so here's hoping.

I noticed this too, i'm pretty sure this is not related to the LRT...

The Southwest LRT Updates listed this for last week:A ton of trees have been cut down and cleared out on the north side of the site. I have no idea if it's for light rail construction or not, but it's where the first phase would go, so here's hoping.
Minneapolis
Chowen Avenue to Lake Street
For the 2020 construction season, this area will experience major utility work, soil correction activities, pier protection work on the Lake Street Bridge, West Lake Station construction and the realignment of Chowen/Abbott roadways.
Utility work continues in the area. Clearing ground cover in the Chowen/Abbott loop is being completed Friday, April 24.

Good catch! Does anyone know what this realignment is all about? The Southwest LRT Updates listed this for last week:A ton of trees have been cut down and cleared out on the north side of the site. Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (295' - 24 stories)
It creates development sites adjacent to the LRT station, removes some width, and add more ped space. It's cutting off the 'point' of the current road loop.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.

Curious to see what they encounter below grade. That general area was a dump.

Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (295' - 24 stories)
This appeared to be very much under construction last week. Lots of major excavation right up against the existing tower.
Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (295' - 24 stories)
Great news, would this be for the tower or low-rise phases
Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (295' - 24 stories)
I live in the existing building ("The Original") on that site. They are currently building the parking structure and one of the low-rise buildings next to the parking structure ("The Mezz"). Not exactly sure on timing of the tower, but they are saying it'll open in 2023.
Thread should be renamed "West Lake Quarter." That's the name of this complex now.

Residents here got a construction update from Bader this past week: The pile driving currently going on is for the parking ramp/amenity deck, and the low-rise building called, the Mezz.
Bader says they will start foundation work on the Gateway (low rise building on the south side of the site) in 2022.

On West lake quarters Instagram they said work was for the tower part. Not sure how reliable that is. Post and comment was from about 3 weeks ago
Re: West Lake Quarter - 3430 List Place (295' - 24 stories)
Isn't the tower going to be on top of the parking ramp?

Good point, so maybe we should say its the phase of the tower they are working on.
Either way im glad to see this whole development move forward even if the tower design is less then great compared to the two tower option.

I emailed the developer to get some clarity on this and the different phases... I'll report back.
The tower will be next to (directly north), but not on top of the parking ramp. The top of the parking ramp will be an amenity deck and pool.

Really wish they'd acquire those two little properties cut out of the SE corner of the image, so the "Gateway" building could be built to the corner. 3130 Excelsior and 3400 List Pl. 3400 List is an attractive little 5-unit building, which would be kind of a shame to tear down, but probably worth it in the grand scheme. 3130 Excelsior is an unremarkable house that has been converted to commercial use.

Drove down west Lake St to TH 7 for the first time in months. With the first 6-story topped out it really has added a “full” neighborhood feeling back there when view it driving past.
