Does anyone have the links to the planning meeting notes where this was originally proposed (since that's the only information we have, right?).

I found the information in a Finance and Commerce article from April 24, 2012. Other than that, the only link to this project can be found here:

Spent two great years living a block from this project. It's crazy how different Stadium Village is from when I first moved there in 2008. Getting off the bus by TCF Bank Stadium to go to Stub and Herb's it looks like there's a little skyline...

The MN Daily had an article on this project on the 22nd:

http://www.mndaily.com/2012/06/22/stude ... um-village

This will take out both the auto body shop and the neighboring Noodles & Co. building. Both are planning on relocating -- Mercil's is eyeing a spot at 19th Ave S and Riverside Ave (this building?), while Noodles & Co. plans to move to Stadium Village Flats. The rendering also makes it look like that house behind Mercil's will be razed as well (a fact which I believe was confirmed when this project was discussed on Minnescraper).

Here's a rendering from the PDF swmpls linked to:

Maybe I've been away from campus too long, but I'm actually liking the red brick here. I'm probably just going nuts.

Hmm. I think it's quite handsome -- much better than the UTEC project.

I think the brick is great, but why doesn't it go all the way up???

It's just siding, it can only go so high without collapsing. There aren't any masonry walls to attach the brick to.

Stadium Village is turning into Stadium Town ... and I think that's a really good thing.

Which 11 story tower? Is the Arby's project supposed to be that tall? Cool.

This makes sense, though. I had heard a rumor that Noodles was relocating to SVF, but had ignored it, since I couldn't see a reason to move from their perfectly good location to one further away from the actual campus.

Eleven stories would generally mean a quality building. But looking at the Melrose doesn't get my hopes up.

The Strib is calling this "The Station on Washington". Opus closed on the sale this week, and the article says work will start right away with hopes of opening in August 2013.

Another story confirming "The Station on Washington." Also says 97 units (instead of 98).

Wow, $7.1 million for what looks like only half an acre.

From the looks of it, a really quality project, the rendering shows the use of great materials. Brick that fits in with the University, but cool metal panels that make it new and modern. Lot's of first floor retail. Blocks the big ole parking garage behind... What's not to like?

I really think all of this student housing is making Dinkytown/Stadium Village a desirable place to live (after freshman/sophomore year). I know so many students who live in NE or Uptown because they didn't like the area around the U. I think that's about to change!

The Noodles closed down on Monday, so demolition of the existing buildings should happen within a week or two. I'm excited for another shiny new building, though I was also counting on the amount of construction between me and my classes shrinking, not growing, this semester.

The sidewalk around this site was barricaded off on Friday, so it looks like they'll be starting demolition this week. Finally.

Walked past the site this morning, and the old Mercil's building was being torn down. I assume the old Noodles building and the house on the south end of the site will follow suit soon.
