On the webcam, you can see that the bases for both east block tower cranes have been placed. What a sight this will be!

Nice. Earlier this morning, only the western one was there.

9 cranes up here by August, wow...
Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
I think there are 6 at the stadium site. So 10 total. Insane. Too bad the parking ramp tower wasnt going up right now too.

The stadium has 5 tower cranes and the one bigass crawler. So yes, six, but counted slightly differently.

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
I thought 'The Yard' had a thread:
MPRB may send the park back to the city- http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/269605421.html
MPRB may send the park back to the city- http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/269605421.html
"The ... agreement with the Vikings and the MSFA really limits what we as the Park Board would be able to do," Park Board president Liz Wielinski said in an interview. "We wouldn’t be able to do our normal programming."
Additionally, Wielinski said they anticipate that the full build-out of the park could cost up to $20 million. And one of the major funding sources for that -- air rights above a nearby parking ramp -- is in jeopardy after plans fell through to build a hotel. That's on top of operations and maintanence, which the Park Board expects could cost between $2 million and $3 million a year.

I didn't see a specific thread for The Yard so I'll post this here, but the Park Board voted against running The Yard last night (Link to Strib write up below). With the Park Board essentially punting on building and running the I'm starting to think the park is in danger of falling apart unless someone steps up and takes a control and pushes to get the thing done and done right.

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
I didn't get that sense at all, the article clearly talks about the city having enough money for the basic park, with the downtown business council putting together a conservancy plan. This "park" is always going to be tricky - with the Vikings having so many 'free days' I can understand the Park Board not wanting to be a part of the mix. They never did in the first place. With the Park Board essentially punting on building and running the I'm starting to think the park is in danger of falling apart unless someone steps up and takes a control and pushes to get the thing done and done right.
I have faith that this will all come together. If the Ryan/Wells Fargo deal can come together, a park certainly can.
