Re: Peavey Plaza
Oh and it seems that my Peavy Plaza account on twitter has worked the way I wanted it to work. I got attention from the TCLF, the ones who have put themselves in charge of making sure Peavey Plaza is preserved in the least harmful way possible. It looks like it's a bad way from what was shown publicly, but that was just due to an image I used. From the e-mails I received it was more of a salute for trying to grow attention to the plaza again. I'll have more info soon. The TCLF has a group that meets frequently to discuss what can be done to help Peavey in the best way possible in terms of renovation, and I'll now be kept updated.
Re: Peavey Plaza
The City has quietly starting holding stakeholder meetings for the Peavey Plaza study that is currently taking place. The City has a page up on their website: http://minneapolismn.gov/publicworks/Pe ... /index.htm It looks like the first meeting was yesterday.
Re: Peavey Plaza
Trying to sneak it in under the radar so that they don't get negative feed back for what they don't want to do.

Re: Peavey Plaza
Or it's very early in the process and don't want the entire public to be looking at it yet.
Re: Peavey Plaza
Also it's on the national registrar now, they're held to a certain standard of restoration at this point, plus there are enough of us out here watching them like a hawk, that's not going to happen.

"What’s next after the report is done?
The City expects the Historic Structures Report (HSR) and Existing Conditions study to be completed in late spring of 2016. Based upon the findings and recommendations in the report, the City expects to solicit for design and construction services beginning late spring or summer of 2016, with the objective of completing construction and re-opening Peavey Plaza in 2017 or 2018"

Color me shocked.
Re: Peavey Plaza
Reminder: A stakeholder meeting for the Peavey Plaza rehabilitation is occurring at 4:30 p.m. this Wednesday, March 22. The meeting will be in the Green Room at Orchestra Hall. It is important to get "bodies in the room."

Re: Peavey Plaza
Umm...Peavy Plaza is pretty much the definition of iconic.
Re: Peavey Plaza
Man, it's good to see somebody finally giving some love to this beautiful but neglected park.
Re: Peavey Plaza
It's funny what gets called "preservation" as that sure looks like a ton of change (don't get me wrong, for the better). Have to wonder if we'd be finished now had they just used that word a lot more the first time around.
