Wouldn't it be great if the hat is in storage somewhere ready to return in all its glory.

If they put it on the roof you could see it for miles.

There were a few people working inside the corner retail space this morning. Has there been any word on what will be going in that space?
Also they have turned on the exterior lighting, which consists of a vertical band from near the base to the top at the corner of Washington and Huron and some accent lighting on the low-rise portions.

I saw a sign in the window of that space a few days ago- it was some pizza joint that I hadn't heard of. I can't find anything on google, but I'll try and get the specifics next time I'm in the area.

Haven't walked along the street-level yet, but I'd say that this actually turned out much better than I was thinking it might. The metal siding looks good.

I was over here for the State Fair park-and-ride, and between the road reconfigurations and the scale of the WaHu, this area was completely unrecognizable to me.

Second that, but mostly in a good way. I hated venturing over toward University Village while I was in school because this area always felt so desolate and gross. Total upgrade in my mind.I was over here for the State Fair park-and-ride, and between the road reconfigurations and the scale of the WaHu, this area was completely unrecognizable to me.
Re: WaHu Student Housing - 1000 Washington Avenue SE
I had totally tuned out of what was going on around the University and this thing was a huge surprise to see. Now I'd love to see more buildings on this scale for non-students elsewhere in town.
Re: WaHu Student Housing - 1000 Washington Avenue SE
The pizza place appears to be open, or at least it now has a sign. Has anyone heard rumors of what might fill the other retail spaces?
With more Dunkin Donuts expansion you have to figure they'll put one somewhere around campus, either here or Dinkytown (there's still an open space at the Venue, right?).
I'd love to get a Panera back in the area. It's been missed since moving out of Northeast, and the Rosedale location is depressing.

Dinkytown has that new donut place with the funny name, sssdude-nutz, so this area seems like the better choice in my book if there's to be an international chain going in. The scale of these WaHu buildings in cheerfully enormous.

Signage up for a Bank of America branch.
Re: WaHu Student Housing - 1000 Washington Avenue SE
Sweet, any idea when it opens?
Re: WaHu Student Housing - 1000 Washington Avenue SE
For the record, there are still like three vacant retail spaces here.
Re: WaHu Student Housing - 1000 Washington Avenue SE
I wonder if the Dinnaken/OSU parking lot and then further down Huron grass lot weren't the things facing that western side if Huron would start to feel more like a street and less like a highway off ramp.
Could help the retail if it were more walkable. Though I'm sure the real problem is probably ridiculous rent asks.

The spots that remain unfilled are between the light rail station and the rest of Stadium Village, which I would argue are better locations than some of the ones already filled. Makes you wonder what they're waiting for.

More people are walking south on Huron that walking East past those retail bays. That being said! Students like to walk where there's activity.
