Its really about one company having a vision and one having a plan. Even this project which had some more complicated financing and logistics due to the fire station was able to get off the group without drama. Now were down to one eye sore on Washington ave.

I would argue Alatus has hit some bad luck with its neighbors too, though. The snow pile site situation was historically crazy.

Yeah, same with the years-long lawsuits at 200 Central.

Idk what happened to the tower by the convention center though.

How about they put their old 200 Central tower at the Convention Center site. Honestly with how Eleven is apparently selling, I hope that the other condo towers can get some traction soon.

According to this Strib article about weird apartment building names, this project will be "named O2, in reference to the symbol for oxygen, to reflect the design's emphasis on well-ventilated air and honor the existing fire station that will be rebuilt". Which, sure, I guess?

This is coming back to the CPC one more time today. No changes are proposed to the fire station (it's almost done, structurally at least), but they're proposing an additional story and 12 more market-rate units in the tower, as well as 52 fewer parking stalls in the overall project (173 below grade for the tower, 23 enclosed at-grade for the affordable building, and 7 guest stalls and 19 fire station stalls in the surface lot at the center of the block.) and trimming the floor-to-floor height of the affordable building just a tad, to make it 70' instead of 74'.

The payment machines were gone on Friday and a sign said that April 22nd would be the last day parking would be avaialble in the lot. Owners gave thanks for all the years of business and that the parking lot would soon be torn up.

Just went by for the first time since the finish siding went up on Station 1. The copper (?) looks fantastic. It gives an incredible effect of flames. Very well done.

There was a lot of equipment on site yesterday and it didn't seem to be related to the fire station work. I'm thinking this will be breaking ground very soon.

I saw in the article about the NorthStar Center that Chris Sherman mentioned they had closed on the deal to build this in the past couple of weeks...

I wonder if anyone from the Eagle (owner, GM) has even seen these plans. Do they realize what they're in for? That there will be a dog run right next to their patio and a pool deck blocking the sun from the south? with dozens of apartments looking down on their patio? You'd think they'd start looking to build a pergola or something.

I would think over the 2+ years of planning for this project, someone at Eagle has likely looked at one plan. Heck, I'm sure they've even talked to the developers. It's a shit ton of housing right next to your bar. Talk about business.
