It appears the project has been issued 'stop work' orders nearly every other month: http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PIApp/ ... 2924430090

That'll slow the building process...

Finally the city is being proactive with these developers. Glad they are finally getting ahead of them instead if having to deal with the after affect like the building on Lake Street.

It looks like the owner of the strip mall at Franklin & Chicago ("which was developed with City support back in 1992" (!)) wants to replace it with a mixed use building with street-facing retail and 80 units of apartments. The City Council will consider granting exclusive development rights to some adjacent city-owned parcel this session:

http://minneapolismn.gov/meetings/cdrs/WCMS1P-118821

The RCA doesn't explicitly say the redevelopment will require tearing down the two decade old strip mall, but I imagine they'd have to in order for parking to be behind the building? This would be awesome and I hope the city throws more money into this site to correct their past mistakes.
More information in the Strib today, along with a nice story about the owners of "Best Steak & Gyros': http://www.startribune.com/local/minnea ... 52742.html

The new Minneapolis facility, being developed with a local partner, is expected to open with a 2-3 megawatt production capacity.
Sounds like it will open in Feb 2015 (fast!). Does anyone know where in the city this will be?

Anyone know what's going on with Citizen Cafe on E 38th St? First they closed for "renovations" for the month of Sept. (still closed) now according to post by someone on their FB page the business was sold and people were let go.

Saw a sign in the window today, "Pilgrimage Cafe Coming Soon." http://www.pilgrimagecafe.com/ The chef also has a restaurant Mattie's On Main. All in all, I'm pretty excited for this place to open.

Speaking of Restaurants, Pizza Luce Seward is growing. The grocery store next door is closed, so they're expanding into that space, which is not just next to Pizza Luce but also wraps around the back of the current space as well. All told they'll be tripling their seating capacity, and turning the current entrance/bar area into sort of an event space. They'll also be adding 20 or so taps, going from the current 4 to 22 or 24 (I guess some of them are going to be minitaps? The bar manager explained it but I wasn't quite sure what he meant. If you go there right now there's a temporary wall put up where they're doing the construction.

Serious question:

Blaisdell Avenue.

/blaze · dale/ or /blaze · dell/

or something else?

I've only heard /blaze · dell/, but, thinking about it, I don't know if I've ever heard a Minneapolis native say it, only various twenty-somethings who moved here for college.

If weed ever becomes legal in MN, I'm for sure going to trademark the name Blazedale for my dispensary.
