Gosh I remember the Chateau Theater in Rochester. What a beautiful theater. If anyone has been inside the Suburban in Uptown, it was like that but 10X better.

Ah, talking about the above article got me remembering of days gone by.

Last time I was in the Chateau was back in the Barnes and Noble day and there was a lot of the old theater that was left in tack. A lot was cover by signs and banners so you could not get as good as look as one would like. But the bones were there and they have something to start with if they do want to make this building shine again.

I think that's the issue. It really doesn't want to change at all. However, the populace seem almost unanimously in favor of allowing food trucks in the city.

Mike Wojcik and Nick Campion are a good start, but the Rochester Council needs at least two more fresh faces to have a majority that understands they're in the 21st Century.

Maybe should go in Nice Ride section, but apparently there's actually a chance Rochester could see its own bike sharing roll-out sometime in the not-so-distant future. I say it makes sense in some ways, but would see a real struggle with, for example, clogging up 2nd St. between St. Mary's and downtown. Further, it might galvanize residents to hate bikes (when they're visible to motorists / in their way) more than they already seem to in this town.

2nd St SW is already clogged up. With cars. It's time to convert the 5 lane stroad / 4 lane death road to a 2-3 lane profile, with dedicated bus/bike lanes.

Although, I have to say, it's one of the more pleasant-looking streets in town, for what it is. Well, I mean compared to Civic Center Dr.

It was just rebuilt ground up over the last few years. What a lost opportunity.

Quam is a Quack. Wojcik isn't even "full Minneapolis" in his views (well, he has to intentionally moderate himself to try and pull Rochester out of the Dark Ages).

Doesn't every one of our regional centers have one of these arenas? I'm kind of surprised Rochester didn't have one already. Now, if only UMR could develop a D-1 hockey program we could stop this stupid rotational crap for the Northstar Cup...

Rochester has Taylor Arena in the Civic Center... roughly 5,000 capacity for concerts, less when the middle is basketball/volleyball court. They also have the old Auditorium in the same Civic Center. Neither can support an ice surface IIRC.

They have the Rochester Rec Center on North Broadway, which is an older facility with 2,500 seats in the ice arena.

You answered your own question, basically. Every one of the regional centers that has a D-1 hockey team has one of those arenas. Rochester, however, has neither.

Looks like Broadway ave. in Rochester is slated to get Bike lanes, expanded sidewalks, and transit amenities.
