The development and restaurant building were approved by the Planning Commission yesterday. Only a small handful of people showed up to oppose (traffic and parking), but those that did were C-R-A-Z-Y. Worth watching a bit of the testimony.
Still no word on the grocery store brand, though Cub would seem to be the leading contender based on store size, past rumors, etc.

Did they mention a projected construction start date?

This comment got a chuckle out of me. I really want to check out that testimony. Can anyone point me in the right direction?Only a small handful of people showed up to oppose (traffic and parking), but those that did were C-R-A-Z-Y. Worth watching a bit of the testimony.

Re: The Capp - 46th & Hiawatha Mixed Use
It didn't seem that crazy to me.. mostly people that live on the block of Minnehaha that will share an alley. some of their concerns were around traffic on the alley, which the developer pointed out will deliberately funnel them to enter only at the start of the 46th alley where there are no residential properties and the trucks will exit by looping around the parking lot and back out onto the service road.
Height was an issue with a few... height is always an issue.
Most seemed in favor of something here other than abandoned property that's there now and causes unsavory activities in the alley.

That diesel fumes lady was something though. I'll take "Things you can only get away with saying as an old white person" for 500.

There's a new chain link fence up around this lot now. Hoping for some movement on this project soon.

Per Minneapolis PropertyInfo for 3939 46th St. E., there's an excavation permit from January 19, 2018 saying "PROPERTY TO BE DEMOED BY FRATTALONE". I thought demolition had its own type of permit; perhaps I'm interpreting "demoed" incorrectly.

Nothing has been publicly announced yet, but I would think it has to be something they'll announce soon, with a ground breaking now scheduled.Did the name of the grocery tenant ever come out?

I second that. Hyvee would be great in this location, the closest grocery store is the Lunds across the bridge in Highland. Can it please be a Hyvee?Did the name of the grocery tenant ever come out?

Oxendales begs to differ. It’s actually a pretty decent family-owned store, kinda slots halfway between Cub and Lunds level on both quality & price. I do wonder how they’ll hold up with the new store (which is all but certain to be Cub or Hyvee based on the size).
Anyways, I’m planning to attend the groundbreaking - will report back what I hear

Re: 46th & Hiawatha Mixed Use (Oppidan/Greco Project)
I was wrong, except for the awful branding part.Until Cub abandons their awful branding and 'warehouse' styling, there will be no such thing a an 'urban Cub Foods'.
The meat:
"We're going to do things differently than we’ve done before at Cub," Dament said. "We’ll have things like multiple entrances, because there’s so many people walking by [that area], and we’re going to have a really beautiful outdoor area so you can sit outside. There will also be a window where you can order things outside."
The Cub store will have communal-seating areas inside with plug-ins, so customers can work on their computers or charge their phones. The store will feature a new coffee concept called Refresh! serving Caribou Coffee, ice cream and cookies.
...
The store will offer fewer items than most other Cubs, but it will have a full grocery assortment with items tailored specifically for the urban community and apartment residents above it.
The store will feature some elements that Supervalu has mixed into its recently remodeled Cub stores: Grab-and-go meals ... a juicery, an expanded deli with build-your-own food selections and a popcorn counter.
Q. What, what? A. In da butt.
