Demo happened today, I took this picture around 1 PM:

I'm guessing it'll all be down by the end of the day (or may be down already) and probably be hauled away tomorrow.

I walked by at about 6:30 and all three buildings were down. Hope it's not another month of nothing before they start digging the foundation.

Ah, they took that house behind Mercils as well, right? I didn't even think about that, it must have also been down and in the same pile of as the auto place.

Yeah. As far as I can tell, Mercil's didn't have a basement, so that second hole full of rubble is actually the house's foundation.

You know I lived right next to the Fairview parking ramp for two years and that was the first time I actually went up to the top of the thing.

You lived at the Big 10?

The crane in those images was set up today. I can't imagine why, since there's nothing there to lift, nor anywhere to lift it to.

I only lived at the Big Ten when they had $1.50 pitchers.

Pilings (is that what they're called?) were being put in the ground today.

A big sign went up today, and their website is up as well.

I like the "Parents: Get the Details" section. At least they know who is paying the rent.

It's probably just wishful thinking on the artist's part, but in the rendering there's another tall building to the right of this, in the location the Fedex store.

I think the rendering on the website just cuts off the right hand side of the building? otherwise the only other large building I see is Moos Hall...

Still a hole here. Moving a little slow.

That's the 2nd time now I've sen that technique: piling the dirt up in the middle of the site while constructing around it. I've honestly never seen this before!

I wouldn't say it's slow, they're just doing a lot of digging.

Given the lack of space on the site, this may be the newest and most efficient way to tackle soil management. As long as the building is made in good quality, I don't care how they do it. I'm just happy they're doing it. :D

This project is exciting and Stadium Village is beginning to look really neat! I don't work in the industry, I'm more just obsessed with city development and big buildings, so I don't know many of the regulations and rules, but I was hoping someone could tell me why, if there even is a specific reason, all the buildings around the U aren't being built any higher than 6 stories.

Why six stories?

We should probably have a FAQ that would answer that question, but long story short, it's economics, building codes, and construction practices, but not zoning.
