Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Not sure if this really belongs here as it’s just kind of a comment on downtown retail in general… But here’s something interesting. A subsidiary of IKEA has bought this 250,000 square-foot mall that was developed in downtown San Francisco in 2016, and has been entirely empty ever since. That was a ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics
I hope that reply wasn't to me...because my main point in that post was.... that there is NO way this is getting demolished, or even closed. I don't think it will even change flags. Only thing that'll happen is it will change ownership or go into receivership and continue operating as normal. Not th...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics
Yeah, I worked in hotels for 17 years...this isn't actually super uncommon. And if it was an old rundown hotel that had become a quality inn? We might be talking about the end of the line for a property like that...but a huge hotel like this in pretty good shape? Sounds like this might actually be m...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I have always really really really thought we should try something like this. Somehow. I feel like we might have on some limited capacity before, but I guess it didn't do much.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Yeah, sorry, it's not all the skyways...and some other cities have their versions of them and do just fine. But if it was all the fault of the skyway, we would have a thriving active retail (whatever form that may take) scene on the 2nd level...we don't have that either. And honestly...if that was o...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Yeah, good riddance...because we know how fast these spaces fill up. Retailers are just chompin' at the bit to move in! And let's boycott Target for closing early until they close all together...I am sure Marshall's will close on their own somewhere in there (they are still open, right?)...and then ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
And sorry for the rant...but sheesh. I couldn't just not say anything with a couple of the completely unreasonable and misguided responses to what Target is doing at that (and many others) store. Please keep supporting that downtown Target store! All else aside...any business that has remained in th...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Calm down folks! And by boycotting the store, you would only be endangering the jobs (or cutting their hours even more) of all of the line level associates that work there before you do harm or prove a point to anyone else. It isn't a downtown Minneapolis thing, its an everywhere thing...the limitin...

Re: 21 North Washington - 27 stories - 300'
Well, Who wants to bet that this becomes another somewhat interesting possibly semi historic building that gets torn down and then ends up sitting an empty lot for a long time😬. I mean I would think if not the planned building some thing will come along pretty quick but who knows. I just hate when t...

Whatever the opinions on the art fair...again with the continued want to deny that there are actually problems with public safety. Well, there are. It isn't "perceived".

Back when I was at the U of M...Judith Martin (may she rest in peace), used to say that the Gateway Renewal Project was great for the city's image, and kept us looking progressive. Not that she didn't bemoan the loss of urban fabric, but I recall her arguing that the city may not have done as well o...

https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2020/10/27/they-are-brazen-theyre-not-afraid-minneapolis-woman-carjacked-in-broad-daylight/ This is getting ridiculous, and I don't really see any discussion about it here...the city has got to get a handle on this....I almost put this in the national reputation thread...

They always do that! Show glass in the rendering, and then switch to metal. The most recent one where I think it made the biggest difference (in a bad way) was 365 Nic.

Well they can't be "100% sold" before they are built. It is probably deposits...I am not even sure if they can have complete purchase agreements before the units are built. I am a Realtor, but I have never done new construction condos. I just know they can't be sold before they exist:)
