Re: Star Tribune Blocks

Rumor is that Ryan is going to "revamp the Star Tribune building," whatever that means...I guess part of it will stay.

Re: IDS Center

I was thinking about how big a deal the IDS was for Minneapolis when it was built...if it was finished in 1972 it would have been around the 11th or 12th tallest building in the U.S. Is that right?

Re: Vikings Stadium

Why would be want to copy another design. Something modern and unique please. If anything, Target Center should have been designed like the American Airlines Arena as it is in the warehouse district.
Not a copy, just similar architecture style.

Re: Vikings Stadium

^^^ That is beatifully done. I really hope we don't end up with that rendering of a glass wall with something that looks like a pile of marshmallow vomit next to it. I don't want a novelty design that will look tacky since this stadium will be around for decades.

Re: Mortenson Apartment Tower - (400 Marquette Avenue)

Looks nice. I think it's great 3 new buildings are replacing surface parking and a crumbling parking ramp on this block. Hopefully the empty lot across the street to the north will be developed soon.

I like the Mall feel it has, like you'd find in Europe or over at the U.

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)

There's an article on this this month in Xcel's internal newsmagazine. Great news: they've decided to go for it with the skyway connections! The new building will connect to the "Nic on Fifth" building now under construction, and 414 Nicollet and future development across 4th Street. I sa...

Re: 400 Marquette Avenue

Mary Bujold's comment makes sense to me: paraphrasing, "I see this site as ideal for an office tower, because multifamily can really be built anywhere, whereas offices are much more site-specific". If that were true, and this site was a major contender for a large office tower, THIS is th...

Re: Introductions

Greetings, my name is Garrett. Been lurking for a while, but figured I'd register today as my works network is down and I'm bored. I grew up in Medina and graduated from Wayzata (it's a faraway place outside the 494/694 loop) and then got my degree from the UofM in Geography/GIS and now work in down...
