Re: Major League Soccer Stadium
I thought it as an underground ramp as well, but I'm told by people who were at the presentation it's actually a surface ramp. I'm guessing it's a rooftop green? That's the only thing that would make sense, unless they're calling a parking lot a "green".

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium
What do you think, mattaudio? http://m.startribune.com/is-st-paul-soccer-parking-head-for-an-off-ramp/368263521/ Ah yes, the classic argument that absolutely any investment in transit, biking or walking is nothing less than an all-out war on the mode of transportation that would still receive essen...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
I had a long angry rant posted, but I've decided it's not worth it. This thread has now completely skipped over the fact that Tiller is accusing John Lewis of being somehow stooping to cheap tricks to discredit the Great White Messiah. Which is weird, because I'd have thought that at that point some...

Re: Video Games
A lot of it is cosmetic, but I do get a lot of use out of the bike and bus lanes, as well as the ped tunnels. I wouldn't pay full price, but I don't regret paying 7.50.

Re: Video Games
Cities: Skylines and the After Dark DLC are on sale until tomorrow as part of Steam's Lunar New Year deal. You can grab them for a little under $20 total. And in a week the Snowfall DLC will drop. I'm interested to see why I would want trams when I've got buses (especially some of the articulated bu...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
There is an argument to be had on how distinct Hillary is/isn't from conservatism How on earth is Clinton indistinct from a conservative? In what universe is having a more liberal record than 70% of Democratic senators (http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/hillary-clinton-was-liberal-hillary-clinton-...

Elizabeth Warren already did https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2016/02/09/elizabeth-warrens-critique-of-hillary-clintons-2001-bankruptcy-vote/ Yes. Poorly, inaccurately, and glazing over nuance the year before any actual vote to pass the legislation. As that very article details. ...

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.
Many on the progressive left have come out (as they have in past decades) against a sacrosanct institution for workers that they don't feel should apply to a branch of government charged with using force in and against the public, and with a long history of being precisely the people who broke up un...

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.
I think a lot people in the movement actually know exactly what it would mean to do this. Many of us don't believe police unions should be legal in the first place.

Due process privileged in firing police are actually party of the problem. It's a perfectly logical demand if you believe bad policing is an issue.

Re: Presidential Election 2016
The most bizarre thing here isn't that Clinton supporters think Sanders fans are secondary, or that Sanders fans think she is playing the sexism card. It's that we're talking about a fairly liberal candidate with positions almost identical to Sanders as too conservative. It's baffling, unless you co...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
As someone on the fence, every time I open this thread I'm more and more put off the Sanders movement. I'm sure he's a great guy, but as a rule I don't find the Savioir Who Musn't Be Questioned approach (Hi Tiller!) appealing.

Saw an A Line bus heading north at Snelling and Selby this afternoon, then what I think was the same one turning around at the bus barn site and going back south. Route training? Speed tests?

Re: Presidential Election 2016
Feel the Bern might be the worst political slogan I've ever heard. I want to vote for a candidate, not a venereal disease.
Seriously though, I just automatically stop taking an argument seriously when someone says that.

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.
Even more disturbing to me in some ways is that this isn't some bottom-of-the-rung newbie. A sergeant with 22 years with SPPD and a leadership position in the Fraternal Order of Police. It really reinforces how bullshit the "few bad apples" claims are. SPPD's union attacked the school supr...
