I’m just still so confused at the Chad Greenway inclusion.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2022

I don’t think the people you’re talking about are voting for any Democrat, though.

I also don’t think they’re more likely to vote for the replacement Democrat who is probably from the Twin Cities and more ideological.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2022

I might be out of touch with outstate Minnesota but it’s hard to imagine Walz doing anything but waltzing to a new term in 2022. He’s very hard to vilify as an elite urban communist, and nothing he’s advocated for has been particularly extreme or controversial. In other words, the opposition to him ...

Minnesota Governor Election 2022

Strib had a story today on the underwhelming field trip of potential GOP candidates. https://m.startribune.com/gop-field-for-governor-next-year-already-taking-shape/600006424/ I find it very strange they decided to include Chad Greenway, who besides having no qualifications to be governor also has n...

Re: Raymond Station area developments

There’s kind of surprisingly a lot right around there but no real synergy as a district since it’s mostly specialty stores and in a bit of a dead zone for residential between the Raymond and Westgate stations.

Re: Interstate 94

What exactly does boulevard mean in this context? Like just a freeway with some extra trappings to make it nicer, kind of like 35E south of downtown St. Paul? Or like a full-on conversion to something other than a freeway?

There is a sign on the old Izzy's window that says ice cream is coming soon. So there's that.
Details on the new tenants (if you can navigate through the Pioneer Press website)

Just to be sure, should this discussion be moved to the downtown Longfellow thread? (Also is downtown Longfellow actually a thing or did someone just make it up for the sake of a thread here?)

Re: CHS Field (St. Paul Saints Ballpark)

Just out of curiosity I looked at the other Triple-A teams and the only comparable example where the major league and top minor league teams are in the same market is Seattle, where their Triple-A team is in Tacoma. Several others are pretty close, but like Worcester and Boston are pretty distinctly...

Ugly building, but losing a medical clinic probably not a win for the neighborhood, right?

Coincidentally MPR has a big story today about progress since the June "defund the police" pledge.

In short, this is a mess with no end in sight.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News

Maybe I’m missing something, but the idea that Uptown is going to transform to a retail district catered toward small, independent, neighborhood businesses doesn’t make sense. Uptown is a shopping mall surrounded by new, high-priced apartments. It’s basically the template for the opposite type of re...

I was mostly kidding. The U suddenly has a lot of facilities for a women’s tennis and track team though.
