Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Have to agree MOA appears to be doing just fine. The place is absolutely packed on weekend nights and there's very few vacancies. A lot of the will ride trains but not buses people from the suburbs that would drive their car to a park and ride and take the train downtown to work are still working in...

Re: 2023-24 Minnesota Legislature
The problem I see with the bill was the potential impacts were too broad. I don't think most people would really mind a couple of duplexes here and there- there's a few in my neighborhood already. And of course the bill doesn't obligate any development. But potentially 6 unit apartment buildings on ...

No. My only recollections are all the free right turns will be removed on the west side and I don't have any recollection of any remaining on the east side.

Re: Hopkins - General Topics
I saw the actual construction plans when they were still advertised for bids and FWIW my recollection is that all the free right turns were removed. There was a similar project at Fairview and 36 last year. On that one they kept one of the free rights, EB to NB, due to concerns during peak holiday s...

Re: Interstate 94
The original Corridors of Commerce anyone with an internet connection was allowed to make a proposal, they didn't have to come from a government agency. I think it's safe to say the I-894 proposal was some random person either making simple joke or a making a statement about how bad the traffic cong...

Online chatter is Valleyscare is coming back this year. There's an announcement coming April 2 (just in time to spur advance season ticket sales for this year) There's been some rather creapy looking teaser images on their social media, an allaeged leak, and spring isn't normally when you announce a...

Are there any developers willing to build mixed use anymore absent the city forcing them to include ground floor retail as a condition of being able to build their apartments, or the city coughing up huge amounts of their taxpayer's money for a subsidy?

I'd say building the tracks on the biggest infrastructure project in the state in the wrong place is a bigger deal than someone sneezing on a train.

So the difference in capital costs for doing streetcar vs ABRT is approximately 18-20 ABRT routes? What are we doing here?

St. Paul doesn't want to see people leaving the airport for downtown Minneapolis on real trains and to downtown St. Paul on nothing but buses.

Kind of wonder if Hy-Vee is going to pull out of this market entirely, since they haven't shown any inclination to keep expanding to establish themselves.

So, how did it work out with the city squandering the money of hard-working taxpayers trying to get "just a normal city" there?

If the idea is to get funding for stuff as oppossed to actually getting stuff that's feasible or useful, maybe we could offer grants for digging ditches and then filling them in.

So, why would a card have to be contactless to have it work on a bus? Swiping it worked just fine everywhere else, including vending machines of the era.

Considering everyone had a credit card and cellular techology was everywhere even back in 2004, why did they buy a system that couldn't accept credit cards on the buses?
