Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Development Site
Wow I wasn't expecting that! Ryan has done great work with this one. Few thoughts 1. Who would want their apartment door to directly access the skyway like they have on the 2nd floor? 2. The person who decided that the residents can't use the ramp should be banned from making decision for life. It's...

Re: Gateway Tower (RBC/Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 503'
You know United has salvaged a pretty damn solid project, despite (what appeared from the outside) almost completely messing it up a few times over the past few years.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
If a lease holder no longer exists how could sublease in the first place? That really seems like a semantic difference, no?
The important question is whether KMart can sublease without landlord approval under the original terms of the lease.

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
Well I guess this says all you need to know about Triple 5 thinks about luxury retail at MOA and really the future of adding retail to the mall in general. Honestly, that I don't mind. Better they figured that out before doubling in size and putting themselves at risk. There'll be plenty of new ret...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
Since the day they announced the location of the stadium I've thought that the success or failure of the stadium won't be judged on if the team can bring 20,000 people to Midway 16-20 times a year, they will, no problem. The success or failure is ultimately going to be judged on the development surr...

Re: The Expo - 215 2nd St SE (285' - 26 Stories)
It's Minneapolis. Developers do infill pretty damn well, occasionally jump up and surprise us on mediocre lot, and only do reach about 50% of the potential on premier lots.

I get why they have the arch window at the top it echos them at the lower levels but it does look huge and out of place. Hopefully that's something they can fix before they get far into the process

I've accepted the fact is going to be a 5 over 1 and that's what this parcel was always going to be but the fact that CPM continues to believe people will want to live 3 steps above Lake Street will always shock me. Why not turn that into retail? I feel a cellphone company would be all over that spot.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
Also when is the last time a railroad cared about a locality it's located in? I've never heard of railroad of cooperating with a community when it doesn't benefit them. And at the end of the day they really don't have to because of rules in place at the federal level

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I've long thought that 5th should be closed between US Bank Stadium and Target Field to all cars, with the exception of those entering or exiting a ramp. In those situations you only allow access to the garage from the nearest ave. Add bike lanes, a bunch of great trees encourage sidewalk cafes, etc...

I'm trying to figure out how the people on the lawn section behind the suite tower building are going to see the stage. Presumably there is going to be some pitch to the lawn and the building doesn't appear to have a 40' high gap in it more like 20'-25'. I have a hard time figuring how the people at...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
I stoped and looked around the stadium for a few minutes this evening here are a few things I noticed. 1. They only have 2 large white wave pipes left to install and both of those appear to be waiting for some work on the press box/premium seating to be finished up. 2. The brewery/restaurant/bar on ...

I'm sure I'll get ripped mercilessly for even proposing this but wouldn't it make sense to run LRT down the center of 94 as part of rebuild in a dedicated guide way? Take the Green Line/Riverview tracks from UD to the Xcel roughly then go right down the center of 94 with stops at Snelling and Huron ...

I don't think anyone here is even remotely excited about United Properties scaling down their plan, I'm certainly not, if you don't believe me go back and look at my posting history. But at the end of the day United Properties has back the city into a corner on this one. Assuming UP refuses to the p...

I'm sure I have a (well deserved) reputation here for being overly critical and negative but this is sure is a disappointment. I find it fascinating that we can somehow get great to amazing projects on B or C level parcels and nothing but good enough to meh for A level parcels. All that said this is...

This proposal will certainly present challenges when it comes time to redevelop the Crooked Pint/Eagle Bolt buildings. But that was likely going to be an issue with anything developed on this lot.

I totally understand the argument to tax land and not buildings but couldn't that result in mediocre building in prime spots? For example Ackerberg decides to just throw up the ugliest, cheapest 5 over 1 we've seen just to make the land profitable and not taking such a bath on the taxes? Plus that w...

There are also gaps between the sections of the exterior as well where the steel ribs are. Hopefully the materials can stretch over time and close those because it doesn't look great with those gaps and the tabs. But I'm holding back final judgement until they are completely done with the exterior.
