Re: Stadium Village
I would guess that this is more or less an extension of that plan but who knows. I'm pretty sure there was something about that plan in a regents board packet a few months ago other than that who knows if it's still a thing

Re: Stadium Village
I'm not sure if anyone saw these two Twitter threads but clearly the UMF and United Properties clearly have something really big planned. They want to create a "gateway" district, it's clear they have the land and we know they have the money to do something really great but we'll what the ...

Re: Stadium Village
I was thinking something more along the lines of an plaza/seating/green space that is part of the buildings design but sure whatever I'm the idiot.

Re: Stadium Village
I was going to make the same point that other people made do we believe the U of M foundation has the will power and ambition to build something great here, we know they have the resources. But honestly a little green space at the corner of Washington and Huron wouldn't be the worst thing so long as...

Re: Gateway Tower (Four Seasons/RBC) - 43 stories - 513'
Maybe the city can get a nice vertical piece of public art to straddle the valet entrance to the garage in an attempt to hide it.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I wonder if this could be reviving a Century Plaza / convention center development. Please, please, please let this be the case, it makes almost too much sense. Hollow it out by taking out the parking ramp in the center and build a nice glassy tower growing out of that. Use the current building as ...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
I get what they were going for and I really like it in concept but it just doesn't work for some reason. It reminds me of the Wells Fargo Tower with the vertical ribs breaking up the glass facade. I guess it isn't elegant enough to pull it off maybe if it was a few stories tall (I'm not just saying ...

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave
The apartment building is positively great but the hotel is still pretty rough. Sherman definitely needs go back and figure out a better cladding than what they currently have. The hotels street level facing Portland needs some work as well, the meeting room at 7th and Portland not a coffee shop is ...

Re: Arby’s Island
Woof. Outside of kinda cool curved wall following Lagoon there is exactly zero to be really excited about in this project. The first floor has a bunch of doors but who is going to want to live at street level facing Lake St, at least they have private terraces I guess. The retail at Lake and Lagoon ...

Re: Arby’s Island
1. Reuter Walton built WaHu in Stadium Village, it doesn't have curved walls but is over 6 stories. 2. Realistically we all knew that this was going to be a 5 over 1 building from the beginning and just dreaming about something bigger/better. To me the problem is that there is no better piece of rea...

Re: Nord Haus - 315 1st Ave NE (208' - 20 Stories)
I'm totally fine with this new plan happening but if it ends up dying on the vine, especially the 6 story portion, I won't complain.

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
I've said from the beginning the stadium success or failure over the long term is going to be judged not by the how many people it draws but what is developed around it. What the site really needs is an anchor tenant that would bring a few thousand employees to the site Monday to Friday and that wou...

Re: 365 Nicollet (334' - 30 stories)
If I remember correctly in some filing Opus said they are looking at 2 options to fill the second half of the block. The first being a twin to the current building and the second being a 20 story office building. I would love if they did a 20 story office building that covered 2/3 of the remaining l...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
On my way home today I stopped by the stadium and looked around so here is a quick update. Spoiler alert it's going up fast The roof structure is basically complete, there are 2 or 3 crossbeams left to be installed and that's it. The roof its self isn't far behind. There are 6 more section of white ...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
I'm surprised something is going back into the Perkins. I was assuming it was going to be demolished to make way for the green space between the stadium and University. Between the Big Top in the Perkins location and the McDonalds there is boing to be little to no connection between the LRT stop and...

Re: University of Minnesota - General Topics & Development Map
Side note and this really isn't a criticism of just M Health but why are hospitals so terrible at master planning? I can't think of a single one in the entire metro that doesn't seem just tossed together with random architectural styles that don't fit together in any logical way.

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
I still don't love this project. I wish it had another 10 or 15 stories of condos which seems totally doable given recent activity within the city. That's what I don't get, it's great that there are 3 stories of condos. But looking at it I have a hard time seeing how 3 stories make more sense finan...

Re: Municipally-financed Waterpark at MOA - Bloomington
I've always wondered why LRT didn't run right down the middle of Lindau Ln, have a below grade transit hub right in front of the mall then turn north up toward IKEA where it could use a parking lot to turn around. It really made sense to me a few years ago when they were redoing the area. Plus it wo...

Re: Ryan Condo Tower - 1111 West River Parkway
As far as the Padilla building goes, Ryan still owns it, and they mentioned that they're working on legally attaching its air rights to the condo tower to preserve its downtown views. Which makes sense, but is a little disappointing. I wouldn't expect another tower directly adjacent to this one or ...
