Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium
Ultimately the decision on whether or not the stadium will get built will be made by MLS and not by anyone local. Only they have the power to award a new franchise so they will have to make a decision at some point on which ownership group to go with. (This is assuming the Pohlad/McGuire group is ab...

Re: 7 Corners Hardware
I understand why some people would be less than impressed with this project, architecturally it doesn't do anything too interesting or different but overall this is a really really solid project for West 7th and St. Paul in general. And quite frankly how many projects similar to this do anything ama...

Re: Seven Corners Gateway Site
I'll defend the concept of a practice facility on this block for the Wild and a small amount of public financing. I think a 3000 to 5000 seat arena here would do very well for multiple reasons. Obviously the Wild would anchor the space (and pay for a huge percentage of the project) but it could also...

Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)
I would guess the sale is a good thing for 4Marq, worst case is the currently planned and approved tower is built but a little later than currently planned. Best case something bigger and better is built. If you are an investment firm, like the one that just bought 4Marq, you don't do so with withou...

Re: Target Center Renovation
I'm a Minnesota sports fan, it's been beaten into me to expect the worst. Why is negativity "realistic" but positivity never is? Love that logic and attitude.I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer at all here, just realistic.

Re: Target Center Renovation
Please Mortenson, save this from what surely could be a hideous architectural monstrosity. Given what the Target Center is and the budget I don't think Mortenson or anyone else can save the Target Center from being a hideous architectural monstrosity. SO love all the Debbie Downers on this page! Je...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
You have to remember that there are 2 weeks between the AFC and NFC championship games and the Super Bowl so in some ways it will be 2 weeks worth of coverage. I would guess that the 1st week will be pretty much sports networks only (ESPN/ESPN 2/ESPN The Ocho, NFL Network, NBC Sports will all be her...

Re: Target Field Station
I think targeted (ha!) sponsorship of specific stations is a really great way to offset costs of transit infrastructure. When you consider how much stadiums collect, there's no reason to assume that a sponsorship of a major station wouldn't be worth a significant fraction of that amount. The name w...

Re: 1000 block of Hennepin Ave & Hawthorne Ave for sale
I know this will be an unpopular opinion but I've always that that the block facing Hennepin would be a great location for concert/opera hall. Something completely different than either the State or Orpheum, something along the lines of Royal Albert Hall in London or Carnegie Hall in New York or a w...

Re: Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) Clinic Expansion
I'm just spitballing here but wouldn't it make financial sense for the county to sell ME site to a private developer and build a new ME building either in the surface parking lot or right next to existing parking ramp? If the new block is going to cost $10M, the ME site is undoubtably worth more per...

Re: I-35W Freeway Lid Development
I love the idea and the ambition of the project but with currently large supply of developable or redevelopable blocks in DTE there is a pretty good chance the new land would just end up as a bunch of parking lots for 25 years. Let's let the current supply dwindle a little bit before we get too ahe...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Really #5 was optional, I just think that SLP after watching and listening to actions and statements during this entire Wagnarian Opera they deserved to be called out. Kenilworth didn't behave much better but they lost so they don't get ripped. Not to mention daring SLP to withhold consent and kill ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
First I think I need to point out that getting the state to commit $160m isn't a slam dunk at this point. In the current Minnesota Republican party by voting for LRT you are asking for a serious primary challenge, there are also plenty of greater Minnesota DFLers who are just fine not giving more to...

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
I've come around on this project. Not because I like the idea of subsidizing a massive hotel development that has a possibility of being a huge money maker, I don't like the idea at, but because of the statement it makes and the message it sends. It makes the statement that the Twin Cities is ambiti...

Re: Greystar West Lake Apartments - 2626 Lake Street W
A couple quick thoughts. 1. I think that street level retail has a little tenency to be over blown here but I really think the lack of it in the project is something the developer will come to regret. I really think a sidewalk cafe and boutique would do amazing here. 2. I wouldn't be surprised if th...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Honest question, can anyone ball park what it would cost to tunnel under Hennepin from the Midtown Greenway to 94? It couldn't be *THAT* much more that $345M could it?What a nightmare. The new tunnels under the channel are estimated to cost $270-345 million depending on the length.

Re: West Calhoun Apartments - (3118 West Lake Street)
If I were Trammel Crow I would have my architect design the ugliest ass building ever build just to spit CIDNA. Either that or build the biggest concert wall I could right up the Midtown Greenway. 56' tall running the entire length of the property even consider putting a subtle message or two on it...
