Re: Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project
What do we think the odds are of any roundabouts happening at this juncture? It seems a clear choice if funding is there, but I doubt we'll see any this time around. If by this juncture you mean right now with the current $9m rebuild the odds are as close to zero as possible. As for the funding, th...

Re: West Calhoun Apartments - (3118 West Lake Street)
If I were Trammel Crow I would have my architect design the ugliest ass building ever build just to spit CIDNA. Either that or build the biggest concert wall I could right up the Midtown Greenway. 56' tall running the entire length of the property even consider putting a subtle message or two on it ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Allow me to clarify, I was operating under the assumption that you could run LRT down the middle of Hennepin only taking the parking on either side of the street without losing any lanes. I'm judging by the responses that isn't the case. I'm also not a fan of tunneling under Hennepin either, granted...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Don't have access to your Google Maps Engine so I can't see the visualization. But based on your description, the only way you'll get it along Hennepin south of 94 is if you tunnel it. *THAT* IMO (obviously) would be an acceptable alignment…but as David noted, cost would be a huge factor, nevermind...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
I am not sure what the actual seat amount is but it will be able to hold more. I am not sure about standing room but I would bet there will be 70,000 plus for each game. According to the Viking it it will fit 65,400 but it is expandable to 72,000, that's from the link on the previous page. 5,000 st...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I've been messing around in my head and with Google Maps to come up with an idea to solve the SWLRT puzzle. In full discloser I think the current alignment is stupid and the person who came up with it fired, and then fired again just to be safe and to make the point how stupid the idea was to begin ...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
I'm not wanting to have a 3 page debate over the number of seats the new stadium should have, but I have to ask does 65,400 seats seem small to anyone else?

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
The one interesting tidbit in the F&C article to me is that the STrib building isn't going to be torn down until mid 2015. Hopefully by then someone can come up with a plan and the funding to save and relocate the arch instead of tearing it down. Now please don't debating the merits of saving th...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
A few quick thought on this thread since my last post. 1. The Dome was always a fine NFL building, never great but just fine. It sucked for both college football (for atmosphere reason's primarily) and baseball (because of terrible sight lines) 2. All academic literature points to new stadiums not h...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
But lets not pretend that they are going to be hosting hockey and basketball games there regularly. Outside of the occasional one off event (I.E. Hockey City Classic) the Winter Classic and the Final Four are the only two annual hockey and basketball games I can think of off the top of my head that...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
And a big WTF to the hockey and basketball setups. No matter where you sit, you're cut off from the rest of the crowd, ruining the atmosphere of attending a live event. This place is example #1 of why multipupose stadiums don't work. First this isn't a multipurpose stadium like the Metrodome, this ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
At some point doesn't the Governor just need to step in and lock the decision makers from SLP, MPLS, Hennepin County, etc. into a windowless room with food or water and say "You have 8 hours to figure our a solution to this problem and I don't care what it is so long as it doesn't cost the taxp...

Yes, St. Anthony side. I see it now I originally thought it was a gazebo or something. But I'm thinking about something with a much larger capacity. There actually is a small outdoor stage right there. (We are talking about the St Anthony side right?)

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
I've been thinking that one thing the cities have been missing is a great centrally located outdoor music venue, preferably an amphitheater. So I started playing around with Google Maps and I realized that a great location would be north bank of the Mississippi right next to the end of the Stone Arc...

An update on the proposal to create "conservation districts." A public meeting on the proposal was held yesterday. And note that Meg Tuthill and Diane Hofstede were in attendance. http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/242627871.html Wow that could have passed as an Onion article. The peo...

CIDNA wasn't too happy with Marlys' article. First we need to pat ourselves on the back becaus...

Re: Downtown Office Market
Looking at the graphic posted on page 15 of this topic you can see that with the exception of the 2nd to top floor of the Capella Tower almost all the office space on the top floors of the Big 3 are leased. And if you toss 33 South 6th in the mix it looks even better. That says to me that there is c...

That is the concept I was referring to FISHMANPET, it appears that legal concept/thought/doctrine was never established in America.
