Maybe, hopefully some movement on a new Central Station development per Fred Melo https://www.yahoo.com/news/downtown-st-paul-flaherty-collins-213400716.html
Nothing spectacular but really solid from a developer out of Indianapolis. 20 stories of apartments on the NE corner and 6 stories along 4th ...

Re: Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis - General Topics
I would guess that pretty much any concept moving into the old Betty Danger's space was going to have to embrace the ferris wheel at least and maybe the mini-golf. Removing either of those two things would probably be expensive and why take away a revenue generators vs maximizing the potential

Re: Federal Building & Post Office redevelopment speculation
2 things worth noting that any redevelopment is going to have to overcome 1. the building is on the National Register of Historic Places and 2. it's named after Paul Wellstone and there will absolutely be loud complaints from some corners based on that as ridiculous as it sounds.
The first step ...

I'm usually the guy who rips public bodies for not thinking and planning 3 steps ahead on stuff like this so when they do it plan and design ahead to prevent future problems I will give them the credit they deserve.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market
I think 6 cents on the dollar means it lost 94% of its value, not 99.94%. But in any case, I still maintain that the value was lost awhile ago, it's just only being realized now. It is indeed terrible that we're losing such property values, but it's a done thing at this point - optimizing among ...

I mean it absolutely could have been a worse outcome but an asset losing 99.94% of it's value in less than a decade is pretty fucking terrible no matter the large forces around it.

So, uh the Ameriprise building sold for 6 CENTS on the dollar vs 2016. So that's the exact opposite of fun.

Think the GOP would buy a MN version of this bill as permitting reform and as a way to make it easier and quicker to build things?

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I think there is a big difference in postponing a project for a few years to better line up with other planned construction work. To me that's a valid reason to delay an upgrade. On the other hand delaying a project for years because of engagement and process because engagement and process makes us ...

From the outside when it comes to transit planning the time spent talking & planning vs the time spent doing seems way off. For what largely amounts to an upgraded bus route how in the world does it take 5 years to figure that out? I get that funding isn't always available but how does it take ...

What bothers me most about studies is how often the results are just ignored by leaders and the population at large. Why pay an expert to tell you something if aren't going to listen to it? Just save the $1.3 million in study costs and put the shovel in the ground now, you'll save a few additional ...

I agree with twincitizen's analysis on this one. I think the arena tours are going to stick to arena's, especially bringing custom stages/lighting/etc. working an arena one night and an amphitheater the next sounds like an unneeded pain and complication. That also goes for stadium shows too. Meaning ...

A full proper rework of that double block surrounded by Park, 4th, Chicago and 6th probably requires tunneling both the Green & Blue lines under 6th St (which in it's self is a great project) but is definitely in fantasy-land right now. From there the entirely area should be a blank slate including ...

The Twins don't own the stadium or land under it. According to tax records the land is owned by the city and the building is owned by the Minnesota Ballpark Authority which is a 5 member board with 2 appointees from the Hennepin County Board and the Governor and the remainder is by the city of ...

According to a quick Google it looks like the power plant by the river no longer uses coal ...
