I know this isn't the Twin Cities, but as a former director for the system this hits me hard.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square
Now does anybody know is the old red staircase which clearly said "Skyway" still in place? If so is it clearly market? It has to be right? I mean with the city wanting more Street to Skyway access points they must have not allowed the removal of a clearly market S2S access point right? .....

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis
'Soccer land deal hints at public subsidy request' 'The owner of the site for a new pro soccer team says developers want time to appeal to lawmakers.' HG, How is this not a solid story? It seems like it'd be negligent not to print this information. Do you think the media should defer to McGuire's P...

True. Seat licenses are voluntary as well. Have the Wilfs actually put any of their own funds into this project?Voluntarily.Another case of the public paying for the private portion of the stadium.

Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota
I have no idea if it is possible, but you'd think a combination Saints / United stadium would have been a winner somehow... some way to bring the "outfield" in for baseball, but expand it to be a pitch for soccer. Similar capacity, similar non-bruh culture, real grass field, etc. Could ha...

Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota
On this basis, soccer is somewhere in between - games are both more frequent and over a greater span of time than football, but less frequent and on a shorter span of the year than baseball, basketball, or hockey. Major League Soccer runs from the beginning of March to the beginning of December if ...

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium
Just trying to understand some logistics...so I want to see soccer played outdoors as much as everyone else (believe me I'm pulling for McGuire over Zygi), but what happens when there's too much snow to play in some future March (obviously not this year!)? Would they be able to play a game or two a...

Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota
Maybe. But aren’t ratings somewhat connected with quality of play? When you tune into an NFL, MLB, NHL or NBA game, you’ll see those sports played at the highest possible level with the best athletes on earth at their respective crafts. Not so with MLS. One issue with TV ratings has been the lack o...

Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota
I’m not sure if I’d say “literally no chance.” I’m old enough to have attended Kicks games at Met Stadium. At that time we were convinced that major league level soccer had finally arrived. In 1980 the original NASL drew over 5.5 million fans. That’s close to what MLS drew in 2014. But by 1982 the ...

Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota
I've got no love for Bakk, and I'm not inclined to defend him, but I really don't see the issue. More than anyone else, he speaks for the upper chamber of the state legislature. Telling MLS that there's not going to be state money for a new stadium is courteous. Who knows what McGuire may have told...

Re: 510 Marquette Avenue
Here's an update on this thing, it seems like it's been in slow development forever. Looks like they finally installed the last set of ground floor windows, finally getting rid of the overhanging podium that used to exist. It seems odd that there is only a single door entering the building along 5th.

With the acquisition of URS by engineering firm AECOM the two companies will be consolidating their 200-300 person combined workforce sometime this summer. URS is currently in Fifth Street Towers and AECOM is in LaSalle Plaza.
