Usually to repair rail brakes you’ll need more than a few hours for the elastomeric grout to set up.UrbanMPLS wrote:Couldn’t they do some of these repairs during the overnight hours? I thought this was one of the benefits to only running 18 hours a day.

Re: Riverview Corridor B̶u̶s̶ S̶t̶r̶e̶e̶t̶c̶a̶r̶ Bus
Concerns raised by some folks in attendance were mostly about getting stuck behind a bus, since buses would be stopping in the lane (similar to all aBRT routes that run on streets with a single lane in each direction).
As I've noted before, this is a choice. Stopping buses in the traffic lanes ...

Great news. This will help provide more direct access from the senior housing east of Hiawatha to the station.twincitizen wrote:Improvements to crosswalks at Hiawatha & 46th and a new signalized pedestrian crossing at 45th: https://www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/proje ... haavempls/

Remind me how long was it for both the green and blue lines to go from "construction is finish" too "the line is officially open" because I can think of a few horror stories about some lines that where fully built, but took 3+ years to start service because of some issue found while testing.

There won’t be another one of those built. The technology is being supplanted by battery-electric buses. For the infrastructure costs, you may as well build a streetcar.

There will be roughly 6 months of testing before opening. I’m guessing hiring trends are playing into the conservative opening date as well.

Re: HERC - Hennepin Energy Recovery Center
Here's a question that I don't think anyone asks around HERC - let's say we agree that a garbage burner truly is the most ecological way to deal with waste we can't recycle or compost. If we agree that's true, why do we also need to also agree that the right place for it is directly adjacent to the ...

I still think it makes most sense to do a dual level bridge with a nice MUP and dual LRT on an upper level, with existing TH-5/Shepard Rd traffic underneath. This would eliminate MAC’s lane concern too.

On the topic of said arena being built in that location, could metro transit just have the blue line trains go there and stop at the new arena when events are happening at the arena? In terms of when the line might open, this is like trying to coordinate a party to celebrate the graduations of a group of a dozen 11th-graders and one 9th-grader. If any of these had to be dropped for budget considerations, I don't think the improvements at "Area I" are that critical.
