Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 35 stories - 393'/418'
This conversation might be better off in a different thread at this point. The John Buck Company won the RFQ for the public service block, but there's been no subsequent news about that. They have an extensive portfolio of residential and office towers. I didn't recall anyone even submitting anythi...

Re: Interstate 94
As an actual fiscal conservative, I don't like the idea of being stuck on nightmarish traffic choked arterials with dozens of signals on my drive between downtown. If we cut out government waste and bloat we can still afford nice things like assuring mobility for people in society. The affordabilit...

Re: Interstate 94
Conservatism, even fiscal conservatism doesn't mean don't spend government money on anything more any more than liberalism equals the government takes control of everything in full blown socialism / communism. I can't go out and buy streets, roads, and freeways, so it's the role of the government t...

Xcel is the holding company that holds all the subsidiaries, which includes all the old utilities that did the mergers, Northern States Power was one of them. Looks like there are 6 main operating companies under Xcel. http://investors.xcelenergy.com/Operating-Structure/Index?KeyGenPage=210237 And 2...

I didn't go, but the meeting agenda showed one presentation for the one proposal bizjournals reported on. https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2019/12/11/minneapolis-rfp-attracts-one-proposal-for.html Sounds like the company specializes on rehabbing historic buildings so it seems unlikely the...

It appears the central avenue bridge will be closed for close to two years due to a significant rehab project.

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
Over the last couple of weeks they've been adding signals to the entrances of the parking ramps as well as each of the levels. I'm assuming they'll be used to indicate the number of available parking spots but have no idea how they're supposed to work yet. I've been seeing the bay monitoring system...

Saw a geotechnical company drilling in Churchhill's parking lot this morning. Might not mean anything, but would be cool to have something built on a surface lot I thought would never be developed. Fingers crossed.

Wow this came out of left field. Looks great, the parking podium is hidden nicely unlike a lot of the other projects that have gone up. Replaces a couple of empty buildings and new residents to help support restaurants and businesses on the north end of Nicollet Mall.

Looks like the first floor is being split into 3 parts. A sign saying Pure Barre coming soon is in one of the smaller sections. Still hoping for a pharmacy in the big section.

I wonder if Hines will dust off this plan? Overall vacancy rates are very close to 2008 levels, but I'm afraid the CBD is too high at 17.7% If they can snag a 300,000 sqf client to take a 1/3rd of the building maybe they can get it going with the rest speculative. http://www.bizjournals.com/twinciti...

Not Chinese food, but I highly recommend checking out Bep Vietnamese for lunch in the 5th street towers. Opened up late last year and the service and food is always outstanding. My go to place for Asian food since there aren't many good skyway options.

I like the sound of this, hopefully something modern and timeless, a lot of glass, but not something too crazy that some architect is trying to make a name for themselves with some experiment that will be an eyesore for ever.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates
I heard on KFAN the other day there was a rumor that they have to replace a bunch of it due to water seeping in behind the panels. On the webcam, they're removing some of the zinc cladding on the easternmost portion of the north side. Any reason why?
