Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
They started putting up the facade. It looks...dull.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Mine is $171. Doesn't feel great to get an unexpected bill in the mail, but I would rather pay it and get the upgrade for downtown.

Re: 100 Hennepin Avenue S
I've been told by multiple developers that there isn't enough demand for anything over 300 units. That it would be an "unsafe" investment. I didn't say I want tall. I guess I should've cleared that up some more. I want more units. And yes that may result in a height change as well, but it...

Re: 100 Hennepin Avenue S
I do wonder some days.. 222 Hennepin being leased up faster than they demolished the metrodome, being sold for 3 times as much as Neverland Ranch, and having a very successful grocery tenant. Yet Ryan and Shorenstein still think that it's such a great thing that they're building another 6 story bui...

Jersey barriers were removed last week, that was Xcel doing infrastructure work.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
Walking down Nicollet last night around 5:30 I was surprised to see how many people were hanging out, up to no good. Hotboxing the enclosed bus stop in front of Xcel, teenage boys harassing a woman, grown men yelling profanities at each other, two women getting into a screaming match in front of Ci...

Re: West Loop Neighborhood
I like the idea of a cap, but yeah probably not likely. Some ideas: https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zGBEIFippUNc.kljyYCFJAV2Q Any chance this momentum could cross the BNSF and convince Xcel and Mpls Public Works to redevelop their large land holdings between 394/BNSF? I doubt any time soon. ...

Don't panic yet...there is rebar sticking out of the columns on the top floor ready for the next floors columns to be poured around them.

Re: Apartment Construction Boom (2011-??)
I really hope people want to keep moving downtown and that the mini boom isn't over already. When I tell people I live downtown a lot of them respond with 'thats so cool, I would like to also, but its too expensive...'

Amarillo is a hell hole and a pain in the ass to get to with no direct flights from MSP. Be glad if you are never forced to go there.

Re: Hiawatha Avenue Grain Elevators & Freight Rail Corridor
It is very rare for the cost/benefit ratio ever getting to a point that makes sense to bury transmission lines. This type of line would likely cost 10-15 times as much as it's current configuration to convert to underground, it is not as simple as just throwing a cable in the ground, not to mention ...

Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)
I wish this would get replaced, but it will definitely be around for while, long term plans are for 30 years out. One of the ugliest buildings downtown and kind of a dump except for the VP level. Who in their right mind would design an office building with windows you'd see in a jail? I am curious t...
