Re: Superior Plating site
Surdyks keeps prices down? Huh. I like the place, but I'd never confuse it for being a good value. They're prices are very competitive and have a great selection, which is why I keep going there. Also look for the white un-advertised sale signs on the shelves for good deals. Of course if you want t...

Re: Health Insurance
I had a large increase after steady rates previously as well. Had been $130 for 2010-2014, for 2015 $210 with individual Blue Cross plan. Only claim has been one flu shot. Hopefully there's an explanation for the sharp increase. I'll probably raise my deductible since I never use it. What I don't ge...

That has been there all summer for the utility work thats going on under Washington. The deadline for proposals still isn't until Dec. 11th and a decision sometime next year.

Re: Minneapolis Riverfront
Nice video. Something new to me, the new Kayak launch. To me it is VERY close to the falls. How do they think that is safe? I did notice some separation... But I don't know. Seems scary. It looks like the launch would be into the upper part of the lock, which is separated from the current. Then if ...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
Time for the developers that the Rumorists assured us were working on something for the Ritz block, to propose something iconic here. I think it would be cool to get creative here instead of just a full block building for the first couple floors of this to be designed sort of as a gateway and run th...

Re: Latitude 45 - (301 Washington Avenue South)
I don't know if that's a fair comparison. This location is not nearly as bad a place for giant wall as Riverwest's. And the bigger problem with Riverwest is that it's basically a fortress. L45 is going to have street level retail, and meet the street in a much, much friendlier way. Agreed. RiverWes...

Was it 5 Guys? I was ravenous and did the same thing a couple weeks ago instead of biking.Last night I drove by myself to Dinkytown, parked on the street for only a quarter, and got food to go from a chain restaurant.

I think your're right about July. I can see myself in the Bing streetside downtown on my bike from when I rode past one of the Bing cars in July.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
this project is so obviously polarizing. but from a pure design aesthetic i'd be curious poeple's opinions. some think it a hulking monstrosity. some like it's modernist lines and skyline profile. it reminds me of the guthrie theater debate. i know people who dismiss the buildng as nothing more tha...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
If Target were to become a sponsor we could put in roundabouts to calm traffic on Portland or Park and make them look like Target logos from the aerial shots of the stadium. Along the same lines as the Target logos in the plaza outside Target Field.

Re: Stanton Condo Building - 516 S. 8th St.
^^^You got to give him credit for getting the job done. He's no nonsense. But unfortunately he's out of touch. When he makes the statement “When the city wakes up and understands that you need more parking, then we’ll do something,” it displays an arrogant attitude that's completely out of step wit...

Re: Stanton Condo Building - 516 S. 8th St.
I don't know much about the parking though but I do have a friend of a friend who lives at the Sexton and he was told that he will be able to purchase a parking space at 50% market, for 12K. I'm curious about this. Development on this site, in any form past or present, has always touted that it wou...

Re: Black helicopters downtown
Last night was wild, felt like a movie. I happened to be driving by the Federal Reserve and heard a loud noise so I turned off my radio and looked through my sun roof and saw a helicoper flying extremely low. Then I heard another one and looked up as it looked like it almost clipped the Federal Rese...

Re: Downtown Office Market
I'd be surprised if we see something significant this decade. Xcel's 12,000 employees plus thousands of contractors/hired engineering firms are spread around the country, thus only building the new 9 story building. Wells Fargo is building the two 18 story buildings, which I assume will open up spac...

Re: Downtown Office Market
The more exciting news is they also bought the vacant parcel along Hennepin and parking ramp at 25 First Street North ( just north of 222 Hennepin apartments). I'm thinking we may finally see this vacant lot developed into something in the next few years! Shorenstein is not a developer, however, I ...
