Does that include the restaurant they were shutting down to avoid union action? From the Strib : After going dark in November, the destination beer hall and beer garden at Surly Brewing Co. (520 SE. Malcolm Av., Mpls.) are reopening in two months. "Thanks to the remarkable progress being made on th...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

Was there a local route serving 50th Street Station at one point? I recall seeing a bus connection available on an old transit map I had. I believe the 7 used to stop at 50th, but they moved that connection to 46th, since the bus could stay on 34th Ave S for a longer stretch and better connect with...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Corridor Development & MinHi Line

More activity at 46th and Minnehaha: an apartment proposal for the SE corner is on the CPC agenda for next Monday. 123 units, 76 parking stalls, and 4,000 sq ft of commercial space fronting Minnehaha. Looks pretty good! This has its own thread: https://urbanmsp.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4628&start=20

This 750,000 sq ft warehouse is for larger items that need special storage, like mattresses, grills, exercise equipment - that can be shipped in a 30-45 min radius. This is not to be confused with the 2 million secretive warehouse that people were speculating Amazon was looking to build in Brooklyn ...

Re: Calhoun Square

I personally think Uptown Square sounds much, much better. You stick with a (familiar) two syllable word before Square, which I think matters when it comes to trying to rename/rebrand something. No one will call this Seven Points - I can't believe this was the best they could come up with.

Even has a table/window eating area looking at the LRT station for quick stops-and-goes. But I'd be money that after the first two grab-and-gos, that door gets locked up for security
The NL Holiday corner door is not locked, and used often.

If it was Hyvee, it wouldn't be their first. They have an urban format store in Downtown Des Moines. 18,000 sq. ft. is not very large... for additional context over the Uptown Target. The Highland Park Target is 20k, the Des Moines Hyvee is 38k, the Cub Foods at 46th & Hiawatha is 46k, the Prospect...

Re: Suburban Malls and Associated Retail News

Does JLL have previous history owning malls and redeveloping them like that? From a Google search, it seems they've been picking up a lot of big malls in the past few years, with comments about upgrading/remodeling them to not be "malls", but more community assets. I think that would be a great thi...

Is the southwest metro really so lucrative for Costco that they need to make their 10th store a second one in this corner of the metro? Wouldn't Lino Lakes/Blaine, Plymouth, or Lakeville make far more sense based on where they already have stores? This isn't even 10 miles from the Eden Prairie Cost...

Bloomington Facebook chatter is that Taqueria las cuatro milpas took over the old 1st Wok location today and hope to open within a month. This leaves JCPenney with five stores in the Twin Cities: Burnsville Center, Ridgedale, Rosedale, Maplewood Mall, and Tamarack Village. This is good news for Burnsville Center and Maplewood Mall which would be in really rough shape if they lost another anchor. I hope Eden Prairie Mall takes a queue...

What is the extent of damage on Lake St from the fires and looters? The media seems to just have vague descriptions. I lived over here a year ago and the neighborhood was coming together.
