I'm running for one of three at large seats, and fortunately there are three good candidates.

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017
There are 3 at-large Park Board seats, and the two longest serving commissioners in those seats (Young and Irwin) are retiring. The third, who is running again, told me there's too much affordable housing in Minneapolis... You can have a disproportionate influence on making sure we have a park board...

Re: Mortenson 28-story tower / USBank site- 333 Hennepin Ave E
It doesn't seem unreasonable for Surdyk's to want to have recourse in case something falls off the crane and through their roof, and to know what that is before the crane is built. They're separate parcels under separate ownership.

Aww I've always liked that fun...

Re: Minneapolis City Council and Park Board Elections 2017
What's up UrbanMSP? Devin Hogan here. I'm running for Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and would like to earn your support. I'm probably the first person to run for MPRB with freeway lids as part of their platform. Also, wouldn't it be great for the parks to put an "urbanist" in their...

So it's not a woonerf then. It's a gated driveway/parking court.

Yay? indeed.
FWIW I'm more likely to patronize this business than the one that was there before. I need a mattress. I don't have a car.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Girard is your opportunity to build a REAL woonerf. I agree it's good for traffic circulation but we can calm it to the point where it's a sidewalk that cars can drive on. The walkway idea is brilliant but would require a lot of maintenance just to keep it functioning with our brutal freeze/thaw cyc...

I really like how it follows the curve in the road and allows for a green space buffer with the LRT tracks. Much better than pushing the whole building against the tracks.

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
Are any of you greater uptown folks on Nextdoor? It's the facebook for neighborhoods. The general consensus on there is that a hotel is good for uptown! but not this lot because it's south of Lake street which is not "uptown." Looks like I'll be going to the planning commission to add my s...

Can someone remind me how to contact the city to voice my concerns/opposition regarding this development - again - primarily against them not having to pay the park dedication fee unless the city requires them to come up with a better design for the green space they are proposing. Email the council...

I've seen that. I tried looking it up and I can't find anything about it. IS is just a renovation? I've been going to this location for a few years since I moved into the neighborhood. There used to be more employees working there on non-branch stuff (perhaps mortgages). They expanded their branch ...

Re: The Amp House (3255 Garfield)
The whole project because the neighbors are freaked out about the zoning change. The planning commission talked about R3 vs. OR1 and decided the commercial uses under OR1 are very very limited (daycare, after school tutoring, etc.). The neighbors are making it seem like a pawn shop will move in if t...

The goods are on Youtube now. I still haven't finished watching. Did you make it Blaisdell Greenway? Video: https://youtu.be/f3i1LQhGbu8?t=3h8m35s I did, I was the first to testify. Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Take down the billboard, open the windows along Lake, and you'd have yourself a handsome building. My guess is they want to combine all the small spaces into a single larger one, which makes more sense for the way modern retail /restaurant economics works. They can likely afford to wait out for a t...

Re: The Amp House (3255 Garfield)
You're not missing anything - right now they're only proposing the renovation of the existing building and adding the garage. I don't think that precludes building the new building at some point in the future but it does make the immediate necessary zoning change easier to pass muster with the neigh...
