Re: 1500 Nicollet Half Block

This is also a good opportunity to build a land bridge along the west side of Nicollet across 94 and reintroduce some continuity to the streetscape, taxable parcels, etc. Especially if there is some street and bridge reconfiguration work going on with the streetcar project.

Re: Red 20 - (20 6th Street Northeast, former Totino's site)

I'm thinking the retail bays and the density are huge gains for the neighborhood, and I don't think the building is nearly ugly enough to outweigh all that

Re: Westminster Church

This parking lot actually looks pretty nice, well, as surface parking lots in the CBD go. Only half of the parcel is dedicated to parking, which looks like it's made of permeable pavers. The rest is a green space with two rows of trees, and the row closest to the sidewalk contains much larger mature...

Re: Doran Dinkytown Development

I'd be cool with an L-shaped building that wraps around Mesa and takes out that "2 story" tan thing, as long as there's no curb cut. However, I will fight anyone who wants to tear down the old streetcar suburb architecture. That seems entirely doable, and would set the tower behind 4th st...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)

I'm curious why everyone is so upset (or at least cautiously ok) with the outcome of this building, especially compared to all of the other stick structures going up around town? The materials appear to be high quality and the brownish color scheme is fairly traditional and classy. I like the use of...

Re: Dismantling Downtown Freeways

http://www.dot.state.mn.us/planning/mnship/draft_plan.html -- I see a lot of urban core highway bridge replacements planned for the next several years. If freeway caps are significantly cheaper when paired with bridge construction, now's the time to lobby MNDOT, the mayoral candidates, the Met Counc...

Re: Calhoun-Isles Redesign

Agreed. I'm also with Commissioner Olson in the story. Spend the money to study the lid over 94 first. It's a significantly worse barrier (if you can even find a place to cross at all) and it will connect to a much larger park system. Plus MNDOT has a LOT more money to part with than the county, if ...

Re: Red 20 - (519 Central Ave NE, former Totino's site)

There's a sign up in the Red Stag bathroom that you're no longer allowed to park in this lot. Also a dumpster behind the Totino's building... not sure what they're taking out yet.
