Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
It's both (outlet + groundwater) because the course is towards the end of the Minnehaha Creek watershed. Upstream impacts in Minnetonka, SLP, Edina, Minneapolis (more hardscape, runoff, and so on) start to manifest in south Minneapolis. Not just the park/golf course but also flooded basements in Nok...

Re: Uptown-LynLake-Wedge - News & General Topics
re: developer demand for the Lyn-Lake parking lot. I randomly started following a few developers on Twitter and it sounds like the Lyn-Lake submarket (however they define it) is having issues filling units in newly built buildings. So there's probably not an appetite for taking on a project that hug...

I read the Biz Journals article about the proposed academic building, which led me to this article about East Downtown from December 2015, before "East Town" was invented. https://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/print-edition/2015/12/18/the-big-deal-about-east-downtown.html The Kraus-Anderson and Arm...

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'
And doing that same concept but on the current site, next to a similar sum of rail investment wouldn't work because...? It would work there too, just not as "central" as DTE, where there was a totally blown opportunity to build much more housing without constriction from stroads/viaduct. By the tim...

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'
Our best option was to build the stadium at Royalston/Farmers Market and create a "stadium district" while moving the Farmer's Market to where the Metrodome was, on the intersection of $2-$5 billion in rail investment. Perhaps it could have been built indoors with many apartments, like Rotterdam htt...

One of the best things in Chicago is called SummerDance. Four nights a week they teach you the dance and then have live music for the rest of the evening. Like, ranging from hip hop, square dancing, klezmer, and so on. More of that kind of programming, pls!

That WF is also my branch and inside was ALWAYS busy. Line out the door busy, pretty much every time. Truly a marvel. I've been to every other WF branch in the city and while some have had lines, none come close to that level. Not to get too off topic but well-sourced rumor is that WF will "build up...

For those not aware, David Brauer is keeping a list of all 2021 Minneapolis Municipal candidates here: tinyurl.com/minneapolis21
Great way to keep track since there will be 25 offices up for election in 2021.

Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks
Those round things in the river lock system generally don't look round from most angles. I'd like to see them painted in various colors, put masts and sails on them, light them up at night, perhaps even synchronize them for various things like the 4th of July fireworks. Something to jazz up the riv...

Re: Karmel Square 2020
Lyndale neighborhood neighbors are pretty pro-Horn Towers but seem to be against any infill over 25 feet tall. Fortunately (?) in the absurdly parochial neighborhood system of Minneapolis, people south of Lake Street have no official say in this project. I'm glad that this project wraps the existing...

They are part of a outrageous system, which their ongoing behavior demonstrates. I will blame them until they become part of the solution. Thinking back to a few quotes I read in the Strib soon after George Floyd's death. They talked to some "good cops" who said they "couldn't believe Chauvin was s...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Avenue Development & Grain Elevators/Freight Corridor
There is an nice property for sale at 4525 Hiawatha Avenue in the TOD district around the 46th St Station. The small area plan suggests a residential and mixed use development at this site. With the Oppidan grocery story development and Snelling Yards, a development at this site could be a really n...

Those stairs have been closed (and broken) for half a dozen years. It is nothing new this year. Having just taken those stairs this past Wednesday, they’re not even in that bad of shape. Mostly just need to replace some missing boards. I wonder why they’ve decided to ignore them instead of repairin...

Anyone know what's happening on the SE corner of 26th St and 1st Ave? New block foundation going in but I haven't seen anything about a building proposed there. I think there's a banner for Frana on one of the fences but some light googling has not produced any information.

Re: 2020 Presidential Election
VP stakes are MUCH higher this time around. Biden is 78 and has signaled he wouldn't run again if elected. Klobuchar is a terrible choice for VP for many reasons, both ideologically and the whole staff abuse thing/wrongful conviction of Myon Burrell. If A Klo is passed over for VP then she would pro...
