Re: HERC - Hennepin Energy Recovery Center

Thoughts on why turnover has been that high?

Sorry for the delay, I'm not on here much. My outside perspective is it appears that the mayor has fostered a toxic environment of cronyism and retaliation. This has spilled out into the public with things like the attempted Heather Johnson COO ...

Re: HERC - Hennepin Energy Recovery Center

Nonwhite people are turning away from democrats because the perception is democrats don't stand for them outside of a transactional relationship. This is not a new phenomenon and is not caused by saying "latinx." Many immigrant groups are now established in 3rd and 4th generations and moving to the ...

Re: HERC - Hennepin Energy Recovery Center

I think it's extremely clear that this would have, in fact, helped. There were double digit swings towards Trump in urban areas all over the country. Local politics in big cities is largely organized as a hobby for professional class progressives that normal people are barely aware of, so the ...

Graco Park now open. Across 8th Ave NE/Plymouth Ave bridge from Boom Island. Looks pretty good and has some neat stormwater retention features. Building to open next year.

Yet another survey for reconnecting Nicollet. They have a full block between Nicollet and 1st set aside for a park next to the greenway https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FG28XQ3

Butter Bakery has a picture of a KFC on a bulletin board that says "Remember When." So it was somewhere in Kingfield but I don't recognize the building.

More condo development is good, and glad they were able to pencil out something that didn't require variances.

That said, lol @ "The homes are targeted to condo buyers who want to settle down in a neighborhood setting as opposed to downtown or Uptown." I understand that Uptown is not a market for ...

Re: New Pedestrian & Bike Bridge Connecting North and Northeast

A new bridge across the Mississippi always seemed to catch the ire of the Friends of the Mississippi, right?

Have they chimed up about it?

The survey is down but the two concepts presented had to do with raising the height of the water. Would this be their complaint? Maybe it has to do with ...

Re: Office campus conversions

I thought this was pretty interesting: "Minneapolis, he said, requires a full site plan approval to get a building permit which takes a long time and has no public financing tools for office conversions. St. Paul, on the other hand, views these conversions as tenant improvement projects, which ...

Amazing. I'm a longtime patient at Southside community health center and love that place to pieces. Scott's donation to PPL should also close some financing gaps for projects in the works.

Re: Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis - General Topics

When the closure was announced back in May, the biz journal article said they weren't planning to sell the property, which I found surprising. The Elliot Park redevelopment and soon 31st/Nicollet ones are pretty great, though those include the branch reopening.

Apparently this is zoned for 50 stories? Property brochure has some renderings.
