Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park
Is there some sort of city ordinance or zoning district thing here that requires in-person dining that I'm not aware of? If the goal of the City is to discourage drive thru's, you would think that while reviewing the building permit they would be required to maintain their dining room access versus...

Makes me sad too. I wonder what their deal was? Not enough business?Big Bowl closing makes me sad - it was a very fun college job and I still love the food.

Re: Roseville / Rosedale - General Topics
https://i.imgur.com/fBBqOPc.png The comparison between the rendering and the satellite image is really something. The render implies that the entrance and BigBowl area will be changed. It looks like the Big Bowl restaurant gets lopped off in the rendering, and that the Rosedale entrance is rebuilt ...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
This project is way better then the Red Line. The stops on the East side connecting the 64 and the 54 bus will be very useful for route reorganization and walk up ridership. Also Hmong Village and the Cub and Aldi's near Maryland are great stops. And Maplewood Mall is still a destination. There wil...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
I know it's easy for to blame stagnant suburbs in this region for not wanting the Rush Line to go out there, but the truth is that engagement was pretty terrible on this one. If you look at the video on 3/22 you'll note Ms. Longrie's frustration with met council about lack of engagement. If you watc...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
Interesting! I watched the video from the 3/22 meeting. The guy from the Met Council basically said that the are developing the White Bear Ave route as a new alternative. The current route through St. Paul to Maryland Ave would remain unchanged, but it would go from Maryland over to White Bear Ave. ...

To be fair, the Roseville one is only a half-mile huff off of the 32.We are now down to only three Walmart's that are transit accessible with relatively frequent buses.

Re: MN House drafting bill to ban corporate buying of SFH for rental
I haven't read the full text of the bill, nor do I expect that it would pass both chambers in its current form, but there's certainly a lot of interest out there (especially in the core cities and inner suburbs on the more affordable end of the spectrum) in limiting "corporate ownership" ...

Is it too late to switch to the 3C….. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I am guessing there would have been a LOT more tunnels and unexpected impediments if they had gone route 3c... Like maybe yeah, but it would have been worth it. The tunnel in Kenwood is to appease NIMBYs and the ridership at 2...

D.C. Metro has a ton of deep stations, especially along the Red Line. One station, Forest Hills, is elevator access only. Like a dozen have multi-minute long escalator rides. Wow, now that's a drop! https://youtube.com/watch?v=byiunSQ10c8 Apparently the whole system is this deep because the soil be...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis LRT Tunnel Discussion
How exactly would these staircases work in a 'deep bore' scenario? If the stations are 100' below the surface, I'd imagine that the stairs would need to wrap quite a few times to fit into a small portal? In that event, wouldn't such a stairway feel long/circuitious/dark ? Are there any examples of s...

View from Central. I'm liking how this wraps the older buildings, and the white metal panel is a nice contrast to the brick. Looks like the project is called HenCen now, at least according to Solhem's website. Spring 2023 opening. https://www.solhem.com/portfolio/hencen https://live.staticflickr.co...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
Diane Longrie, if some of you don't remember, put the city of Maplewood into a tailspin under her leadership in the late 2000s with corrupt cronyism, resulting in many long-term city employees getting so fed up that they quit. The city nearly lost its insurance. Council meetings became disfunctiona...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)
From the meeting, a map overview of the routes. They did say the red link would go at grade on 10th ave and washington ave. I think we should all strongly advocate for the pink route over the blue route. On paper, blue appears more direct and thereby faster, but those stoplights (7th/Olson, 7th/I-9...

Re: Proposed Cable Median Barriers on at-grade highways
They have already basically finished installing these on all of the metro's freeways. Expressways are also included as targets for installation and a recent example would be on Highway 36 east of 694 and MN-61 south of Burns Ave. What's the difference between a Freeway and an Expressway? A freeway ...
