Re: Saint Paul Union Depot

Make that spectre000 -- I did bring my camera along, but I haven't posted any pictures yet.
This is what I get for posting late on a Sunday night. Thanks for catching that. And yes, thanks to spectre000 for the pics.

The benefit is all the $ and time they put into rehabbing it. Hopefully it's attractive to someone soon!

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

Another idea I had in terms of "greening" the city, was to incorporate plants on the exterior of the skyways. Could be as simple as adding a ledge on both sides of the exterior and putting flower boxes on them. Would be cool to see vines/flowers hanging/growing on them. Being that this is...

Re: Vikings Stadium

I was going to make the same point Avian did as well, body heat is huge. But I also agree with min-chi-cbus that it seems like a waste. Anyone know how the current heating system works at the dome? I seem to remember it being advertised as carrier? Anyway, I had a thought, doubting it would be very ...

Re: Saint Paul Union Depot

Great to see the place open and packed! And the buses out on the deck give a new realistic perspective.

Thanks for the pics Mulad. Love the guy sitting reading the paper in the last pic. Maybe he's waiting for a train? :)

Caterpillar, Cummins, Deere, Detroit Diesel, Deutz, Isuzu, Komatsu and others got the ball rolling for cleaner heavy-duty engines in 1996. Cat started building diesels with ACERT(Urea) Technology in 2003 and they really hit the market I'm closest to (Agriculture) in 2007/2008. (Mandated to phase in ...

Long term lease of the new tower's amenity deck would make for the best playground ever! Pool time every day for recess.

Like the plans, except I'm hoping they don't really but the LIBRARY sign in the parking alley behind the building. Anywhere would likely be better, I vote for near where it started in the Mall lawn to the North.

Re: Loring Park Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

Dose anyone out there have a pic with a detailed rendering of the base and street level? Just curious to see. These are from the pdf. I don't know if there are more renderings that are clearer. One detail I like is that the backlit frosted glass appears not just at the top of the tower but on the b...

Re: Calhoun-Isles Redesign

Love it, but aren't there other areas where a land bridge would be even more beneficial? How about the Lowry Hill Tunnel near Loring Park and the Sculpture Garden? I know there is also a plan to create a land bridge over I-94 that would connect Fairview Park(?) in North Mpls. to the Mississippi. I ...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT)

If you have no motivation to page through a large document, here's a couple of early planning shots. These images are actually from an earlier iteration of the project, from the early 00s. They are included because the document you linked was SEH's bid for the current iteration, so they included ex...

Did a little digging. Here's a nice detailed concept layout of the planned access changes as of 2010. http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@council/documents/webcontent/convert_264829.pdf Edit: Found a second document that is more detailed(Also circa 2010). Very interesting proposals aroun...

Here's one from the I-35W Transit/Access Website, which, in case you didn't know it, is "Current Work"
Thanks for the second render. Nice to see the anticipated pedestrian connection to the greenway for the future streetcar line.

I doubt public restrooms would solve homelessness peeing. Everyone would go there if we made ourselves one of these: http://blog.bryantpark.org/2011/10/bryant-park-bathroom-in-news.html I just have to laugh at the comments about how the old plaza attracted nuisance crimes, loitering, ect due to its...
