Re: U.S. Highway 14

Thanks for putting this up mulad. I passed through Owatonna tonight coming back from Iowa and was wondering when this stretch was going to open. Looks like the last two lane stretch East of there may get funding in the next 10-15 years: Expansion of TH 14 from two to four lanes between Dodge Center ...

Perhaps you will hate me for sharing this link because of all the time you will spend here:
Wouldn't be so bad if I had the bandwidth to really enjoy it :( . Great source though, thanks for sharing!

Re: Google Maps

Great work. Just tried this out with a new post. Is there anyway to join multiple line segments? I've been wondering this also. I'll look into it more but at the time being it doesn't really look like it. Good to know. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't unnecessarily cluttering the list if there was...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)

It's the first time I've seen this rendering, but totally is a little easier to 'digest.' Easier to see how everything lays out. Lots of future potential for this site and area, should serve it's function for the mean time. Here's another similar rendering. I agree the angle from above makes it eas...

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

Retail is having a difficult time with the transition to online shopping. I would think that plays a large part of the difficulty in maintaining/reinvesting downtown.

At the same time, dining out is consuming a larger portion of discretionary income than ever.

It that really the retailers' fault?

Re: Southern MN Children's Museum (Mankato)

I saw this in the paper too! It seems like Mankato is getting serious about developing the downtown area again. It would be cool to see some commercial office growth to match the growth of retail services Mankato has amassed in the past 20 years. I core downtown district including an expanded conven...

I'm pissed because the stadium wont be tall enough. It needs to be a high rise.

Re: Southwest LRT

Aside from the Vikings Stadium thread, these public transportation threads seem to be the most divisive. Anyone want to take a stab at why spending of public dollars in this way drives people's passions so, and tends to divide us? We all drive by trillions worth of collective public investment every...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

I REALLY don't want an icon tower like the Space Needle or UN Tower in Toronto for Minneapolis....but I do LOVE your idea -- very creative! You should pitch that to somebody who can implement it (or something like it)! Agreed here. I like the idea. Maybe this could make a really unique topper for n...

Re: Cossetta's Alimentari

Little bummed out with some of the details on this, but honestly I'm more excited about the food, and improved experience with this one. It was always so crowed inside on the main floor, and the areas for outdoor dinning will be a huge bonus. I agree the exterior could have meshed much better.

Re: Northstar

YTD ridership on Northstar is down 7.25%, sparking the fare reduction idea. If ridership doesn't increase, lost revenues will be funded through savings in Professional and Technical Services and reserve fund balances. Booooooooondoggle. Either way you come down on the project, I feel like the use o...

Re: Northstar

For all of the knee-jerk folks out there who instinctively holler boondoggle when they read these falling ridership stories, need to understand demand for the system would be much greater if trains ran every hour until 10 or 11pm. Currently, they run in the morning and then sit idle for a large chu...

Re: Vikings Stadium

I agree in general, but I'd be more interested in a Scandinavian theme that isn't quite as obvious as a ship. I think Scandinavian elements in the design would be great, but I also think a ship would be a little much. I know this building will be in a completely different class than the homerdome, ...
